XM Delphi question...

I just got done putting a FM modulated Delphi unit in my wife's Taurus running through the factory system. When I tested it the radio worked fine, then I turned on the Delphi unit and the FM pretty much went to static. Now, the XM station works great and is clear as is the FM when the Delphi is off, but I was just wondering if it's normal for the FM radio to go to static when the Delphi is on?

My Pioneer unit on my truck has it's own XM tuner and is XM ready so this is really not an issue on it.

If the static is the norm for my wife's car since it is FM modulated, that's fine... Just curious!

Thanks!
Chris

Not sure I can answer it with any definitive answer but, I can tell you that my former vehicle had a 12 disc changer that worked through a modulator (much like the Delphi with a factory system) and every time that I'd turn on my changer, the FM would go to crap until I turned it off.

I think it's normal.

Thanks Rock...

I've NEVER used anything FM Modulated, so this was a first. Your reply is kind of what I figured (that it's normal)...

Later Bro!

NP Chris. I think it's a normal thing but, I'm suprised that no one else chimed in with some input.

It's normal for your FM NOT to work when the XM is on. The only way to listen to AM or FM is with the XM turned off. For the best info on XM radio check out www.XMFAN.com

I agree with Sonoma Super Crew, you will always get static on the radio if you have an FM modulated input to it and the input is on, except on the channel that you tune to for the input. I have had several FM modulated items in vehicles, like the Sirius radio in my Screw and they all have done this.
