K&N filter
I have a 2001 SCrew with the 5.4L with 59k miles on it. Last month I had a Flowmaster 50 series si/do installed. About a week later I put in the K&N Filter. I could tell a difference. Not only did the tone of the exhaust change but I am getting a 2mpg(hwy) improvment in mileage. That plus the fact that it will probably be the last air filter that I buy made it a very worthwhile mod.

I put the K&N "replacement" filter in my 2003 KR SCrew. I haven't had the time to evaluate any gas mileage improvements but have gotten the impression that the autotranny shifts quicker. Could I be hallucinating?
There is a slight increase in intake noise but you would not notice it unless you were listening for it. Overall, I'm glad I made the purchase. I got both the filter and the service kit from Martel Brothers Performance, delivered, for a total cost of under $62.

Put in a K&N filter and did not notice any difference at all. No improvement in millage. 5.4 engine with 5,000 miles. I have also heard some information that the filter does not filter as well as paper but have no personal experience on that subject as of yet.
