Build time?

I recently ordered an '04 Lariat Screw. I was told yesterday that the truck is scheduled to be built on
December 3rd. How long does it take for the truck to travel the length of the assembly line to it's completion? Also,if I get my VIN number is it possible for me to track the progress of the vehicle?
I have bought many vehicles in my life but, this is the first one that I have ever ordered. I'm 57 years old but, I feel like a little kid waiting for Santa
to show up.

Thanks and regards,
Mark

Don't know much about it Mark, but I did a search and this is what I came up with.

Follow this link, there's a telephone number about 1/2 way down to call for delivery info.

Good luck, it's worth the wait.

Oh, welcome to the boards!

go into the 2004 F-150 forum and there are a couple of guys that'll be able to tell you about every stage in your truck's history (as it's being built). you'll need your VIN. i think his nic is "BigMac"...but don't quote me on that.

I've been on a few tours of the Norfolk plant and asked this question. The guide said 18 hours from start to finish.
Also, a truck rolls off the line every 90 seconds.
We timed this part and sure enough it was a minute and a half between each startup and driveoff at the end of the line.

In that there are 1080 minutes in 18 hours, there would be 720 trucks at some stage of construction in the plant at any given time.

The Norfolk plant builds over 200,000 F150s a year.

Getting your truck built is the easy part timewise.
The hard part is getting it to Maine.

Thanks for the info Raoul.
But, why do you think it it difficult to
get the truck to Maine?

Well, I don't think it would come by rail up that way so, I guess it would be trucked and I thought all the paved roads ended at Massachusetts.

The roads do end there. Why do you think I bought a 4X4?
