Unhappy It WAS a nice truck!!

My wife had a major mishap a few days ago. A young kid drifted into her lane, just touched the rear of the drivers door and left rear door, then hit the left rear tire and wheel hard. The rescue people life-flighted her to the nearest trauma center, and 5 days later they sent her home. She has fractures in the C-2 & C-3 vertebrae in her neck, a few cuts and lots of bruises. I think the truck rolled 1 and a half times. It only had 18000 miles on it and was like new. The only body part that isn't damaged is the front bumper. Pics in signature below.

Ouch! Glad to hear she is okay. It looks pretty bad... So, how long was the kid in the hospital when you got through with him?

from the looks of it ford did a pretty good job with safety in protecting the driver and pass with it bowing in the center.

Lucky for him, I've only seen him in the photo in the local newspaper.....the little twit doesn't have enough insurance to cover the 60K medical bill or pay for the truck.

Oh wow... sorry to hear about that man.

Seems to be a lot of wrecks happening lately... just yesterday, there was a HD and a KR that tangled... Harley Davidson versus King Ranch

Be careful out there guys and gals. Life is fragile... very fragile.

Whoa sorry to hear about the crash and wife's broken neck. The little punk kid needs to cough up the $60,000 for medical bills.

I'm glad that it wasn't any worse than it was...A friend of mine is a FireFighter and went on a pretty horrible wreck yesterday. The guy was still stuck in the windshield. If only he'd have worn that seat belt.

It was a very nice truck, from the pictures it looks like it was Island Blue?? Same color as mine. The truck is replaceable, the life of the wife is not.

Good luck, and glad she is doing better.

Thanks for all of the good thoughts guys. The wife is doing pretty darn good, considering the neck thing.

The insurance co sent a tow truck to pick up the remains today. It was sad to see it leave the driveway for the last time.

If any of you know where I might find another 01 SuperCrew that looked like mind did, I may be interested in buying it. I really liked that color combo, especially since it matched my F250.

What do you guys think about the 04 SuperCrew Lariat?? Are they worth the $ or do you think I'm better off buying a 250? I like the exterior of the 04 150's, but I'm not crazy about the interior.

Im just the opposite, i kinda like the exterior but i think the interior on the lariets are simply wnderful. Take a drive in one and see if you like it, it doenst ride anything like a truck, which is nice for some, less appealing to others, just depends on your personal taste. If you already have the f250 i say definately shoot for 04 f150 sc lariet, i think its one of fords nicest vehicles right now.

Sorry to hear about your wife and the truck. As long as she is OK, you can get another rig!

Glad that she will be alright! Best of luck to you and your wife.

Sorry about everything that happened. Make sure the wife knows people are sending their best...

As for the kid, Deal with his insurance company as much as possible. He might have an umbrella policy over his homeowners or renters insurance you could tap. If he is under 18 you can go after his parents insurance.

If all else fails you can garnish his wages until debt is paid or take his car and sell it. There are many ways to get money from someone without enough insurance. Of course he could declare bankruptcy but at that point he will at least carry enough insurance from now on.

Also look at your un-insured motorist or PIP protection (If you have it) They might help some of the burden from your insurance co. (and they can't increase your rates).

Just some suggestions. Remember...Free legal advice is worth exactly what you paid for it!

Wow dude, I'm glad to hear your wife is doing okay.

From the looks of roof, she is VERY lucky...

...I have been to fatal MVA's where the vehicle was damaged not even half as bad as yours. I'm guessing she is a fairly short lady too, because I don't think I would have survived that crash, and I'm 5'11".

Remember, material things can always be replaced...

I wish you and your wife luck!

broken vertabrae are a serious thing.

best wishes to your wife for a speedy recovery.

And tell her NOT to be a hero. If it hurts take the damn pain killers! Thats what they are there for (especially non-addictive Tylenol & Advil)
