Lightbulb Need Help.. which one would you buy??

Hi.. I am looking to trade in my BMW 540i for a 2003 SuperCrew.

Local Ford dealership has prepared 2 deals for me and I'm torn between them. Both are Black clear Coat/med parchment interior.

Lariat SuperCrew (no moonroof, no running boards, no bed extender, but has the 5.3L V8, 17" tires, regular rims, leather int) - 23,900 (MSRP 32,125)

XLT SuperCrew (cloth int, moonroof, chrome running boards, bed extender, 17" tires, teardrop rims, 4.6L V-8 - 21,988 (MSRP 30,275)

which one would you buy and why?

thanks,
robster.

Without a doubt, the Lariat with 5.4L. Test drive both, but it is IMHO a much nicer truck. If you really want the moonroof (and I recommend it), I'm sure the dealer can search for another Lariat with one with other acceptable equipment.

I am curious to know if this is after trade prices? Recently bought an 03 at a much higher price.

This is before trade-in...

I'm elligile for Ford's X-Plan discount through my employer which gives me about 3,300 discount,

plus, 2000 for financing through Ford motor credit and

2500 cash incentive from Ford.

You can still shop around and get exactly what you want.

I went to Lewisville to get a blue 5.4 w/ moonroof, bed extender etc.... waited until the end of the month and got a great deal

You can also do better than X-plan I got quotes from Mac Haik in Georgetown and Houston for 9200 off sticker before we discussed x-plan or d-plan. Dallas Morning News always has sale prices than can be matched almost anywhere.

Do lots of internet searching - you will find that there are hundreds of black / tan screws waiting to be bought.

Mac Haik Houston, Mac Haik Georgetown, Sam Pack Lewisville, Marshall in Hempstead, all had over 120 screws to choose from over the internet.

I found the one I wanted - called 'em up and told them how much I wanted to pay - drove up the next day and picked it up. All of the "internet sales" folks I talked to were very polite and to the point about prices. You can't do too much homework.

hope this helps

going from the 540 to the truck is a huge step. I realize that this is a ford truck board, but are you surte you are up to this?

You should maybe rent one for a week or so to see. Even with the 5.4 you will find it to be a snail compared to the BMW. Handling will be much worse, wind noise etc.

I love my truck, but Ive had pickups for the past 17 years and grew up with Dad driving them. So to me thats the only way a vehicle should ride... if I came from a BMW I might not feel the same way

well... I went in and test drove both the 4.6 and 5.4... the bigger engine sealed the deal for me.. however, they only wanted to give me 21,800 for my trade in... payoff was 26,100 and it's worthover 30,000 retail... so, no dice this time.

looks like someone was trying to make too much money on this deal... oh well... we'll see if they call back with a better offer...

and J-150, you're right... I absolutely love my bimmer.. fast, powerful, and agile... i have a 1000k mile warranty, so it might be worthwhile to stick with it for a few more year.

thanks everyone for your input.

Interesting shell game being played here, sell the truck at a really great price but give a really low ball price for the trade. Guess the deal was not so good after all.
