Wattman..

Thanks for your replies. I think I will pass on the diecast. If I bought that then I would have to see it everyday and wish I had one. On the other hand...the wife doesn't like the Screw. She says it looks to straight and plain. I have to agree. I love the true blue w/ charcoal bottom. I don't necessarily need the fx4 but those colors are only available in the fx4. The xlt uses the silver on the bottom. Ford marketing sure knows how to get your money. I really like the shifter in the middle but my son wants the full seat so he can set up front. If he sets up front then who cares if I give up 6 inches in the back. What is a good price to get the screw fx4 for? I want it loaded minus leather, dvd, and sunroof? I am in the military living in Hawaii right now but due to move in 4-6 months. Hawaii adds 4K over MSRP so the truck is over 40K. They don't like to budge either. Obviously I'm not going to pay that. Most I have ever given is 500 over invoice. Such a dilema. What else is there to do to the screw to dress it up. If I get it I will get the bars. Also, looking at the specs, the scab interior are bigger than the screw with exception of rear leg room where you lose 6 inches. Some say 6 inches doesn't matter though...hehe

scab shldr fr 66.5 shldr rear 66.7
screw 65.8 65.8

scab hip rm fr 65.8 66.5
screw 63.8 63.1

scab leg rm fr 41.3 32.7
screw 41.3 39.0

I had a choice of either a scab flareside or the screw for roughly the same price, but the fact that my son was ( 15 yrs old at the time) 6`1 and 240 lbs gave me limited options. Therefore I`m the proud owner of my Screw, and a prospective linebacker!!

+1!!!!!

No stake pockets is a PITA sometimes, but I have a tonneaue (SP!) cover so I can't hauil much anyhow. My trucks intended purpose was to haul my new baby around along with his older brother and my wife. It hauls people exceptionally well, no problems at all. I've hauled coworkers that were both 6'2+ and they fit in the back with room to spare.

My 2003 SuperCrew is great, adults and kids like the back seat.I got the bed extender with it and used it about 3 times so far.You never have enough room when hauling stuff, that's what a trailer is for the big stuff.I had a ext cab chev that was nice, but 4 doors is a lot better.Go take the family for a ride in one and they will stay in it after you get back to the dealer.I put a roll n Lock on mine and lost 10 more inchs, but still haul anything I need too. You'll be happy with it I bet.

Wattman1...I am really considering your suggestion...Go with aftermarket accessories. Just found this

Flares

If there are other places that offer stuff like this, please clue me in....

I like the fact the flares come prepainted....

I dont know if this had been said before but I saw with my own eyes a Screw in Tennessee yesterday with a 8 foot bed, now this wasnt some magazine show piece, infact it was dirty but none the less it can be done and it looked pretty darn good, Maybe Ford should look into something like this.Only drawback he took up more then one spot to park.

Yeah, it would be nice if the screw had the option of a 6.5 or 8' bed, but I didn't buy this one for hauling stuff. It's for hauling people w/o dad giving up his truck. For really big/heavy stuff a trailer is better IMO than lifting stuff into that bed. Especially on a 4X4. Love my Screw though, so does my wife and my son.

I got 93” from the front of the bed to the tip of the tailgate when it’s down. So far it’s been adequate. I know I wouldn’t trade the extra room in the cab for a longer bed though.

Get a Trailer !!!

I have a Polaris 500 and it clears the tailgate passage by about 1 inch on each side.

Plus i have to leave tailgate down, and if you have a trailer w/ the gate down there are more issues, turning and wheel handle getting into the gate.

6" wider and a foot longer would have been ideal, but that was not a choice
