Lightbulb Did the foglight mod last night...

I used the tech article and performed the foglight mod to my 01 Screw last night. Thanks to f150online for being a great resource!! The only things to note: I did start to pull too hard on the outside of the switch assembly in the first removal step and almost pulled off the faceplate of the assembly. Be sure to carefully work your screwdriver around to the clip locations. Also, I tried for the heck of it to run a jumper cable from the backside of the plug from the #2 wire to the #12 and hooked up the switch. It worked, but I decided to splice the wires together anyway. If you just went with a jumper, it would be easily removable. And, I used a dremel tool with a long dentist-looking grinder to get rid of the white/clear stopper. Now I can drive with my fogs on when I want to!!

And for those of you interested in doing it... here's a link to the 'HOW-TO'.

Hey, I just followed your link and for the first time noticed the note about blowing fuses. Has this happened to many? Guess I was just too anxious to have my foglights on and missed that little note.

I haven't had this problem (yet that is)...but that web site says for the Ford Lightning that it may happen. So far I have been lucky on my Screw.

I did the fog light mod to my '99 SCab right after I bought the truck, and it was the first mod I did to my '01 SCrew when i traded for it.

4 years with this mod and never a blown fuse of any kind. I didn't use the instructions given in this thread though. I used these instuctions for my '99 http://www.geocities.com/tedoca/headlight.html

I used this link
http://www.svtlightnings.com/svt/how...s/foglamps.htm

to do the mod on my '1 SCrew. Both links have pictures of each step included. Very cool.

The only difference between the '99 and the '01 was the removal of the light switch pod itself, and seperating the pod once it was removed. The '99 was much easier to do, but both were like cherry pie.

This is one of my favorite mods I have done. Enjoy!

Funny, I just did that mod this past week. While I was at it I did the Clarion stealth sub ground wire re-route (with the three RF Chokes placed on the cabling) and both came out exactly as described...this site has some great info!

I also just finished installing my new Bedrug and will echo the comments of many others...looks and fits great, one of my favorite mods! Thanks again to all for the helpful tips (especially for the Duraliner removal).

One of these days I'll figure out how to post pics.

I guess I'm going to have to get around to doing the stealth sub ground mod soon.... I'm getting frustrated when I kick on my FM and can't get traffic.... Other than that, I never use FM... XM baby!

I haven't had any problems with popping fuses on the foglight mod either. Nothing but success....

Rockpick, you really should be getting paid for advertising all of these products. I think that you could be a salesman for every product.

Figured I would speak from the other side - I HAVE had fuses blow. The fuse under the dash designated for the fogs and also the larger one under the hood. Happens about every six months or so. Was not sure if this was because of the mod or the L foglamps just overheating, because I have also replaced about 4 lenses. Next one that breaks I am going to replace with an aftermarket foglight - somehow

Interesting stuff on the fuses. That is one of the reasons I have not done this mod.

First and foremost of course, I have zero patience and I would end up gettting frustrated and probably break someting!

Nah... not really advertising as much as I am suggesting...

When I find something that is all that it's talked up to be, I'll promote it and give it the official RP stamp o' proval.

I wish I got some kickbacks.... DO YOU HEAR THAT XM, MEGUIARS, HUSKY LINERS, PIONEER, LEXOL, ETC...ETC...?!?

Just finished the fog light modification. What a cool trick! The pictures and descriptions were right on. Thanks for the sweat and ingenuity by all those involved in compiling this information.

Dropped the light switch assembly in the dash this morning...(I did the modifications to the switch at 1:00 this morning), everything works as stated in the instructions! Thanks for the great info! While I was at it, I installed some Silverstars in my lamps and fogs. I can't wait until the drive home from work tonight!!!
Wow, I didn't expect that jpg to show up so big!!

That's what I meant RP, kind of like the good housekeeping stamp of approval.
