Mod done on 2003 S-Crew Lariat FX4
If your gentle enough you do not have to cut the heat weld tabs. You can use a small screwdriver to remove most of the melted plastic that holds the face plate on then gently pry the faceplate off. If you do this easy enough the tabs will keep some of the melted-expanded plastic and the faceplate will pop back on easily and be secure.
