4.6L Owners (Miles & Problems)
got oil all over my plugs, turns out i just spill oil all over the head so thats my fault, alternator went out at around 110k. Oem shocks suck. Thats about it.
Actually i would say that the 4.6 is probably one of the most trouble free engine ford has for the f150 aside from the pinging.

'02 S-Cab 4X4. Stock except for K+N drop in (hey, it was only $12.00 more than a stock paper one) and custom dual exhaust with a Flowmaster 40 series. 25,000 miles with no problems. 3 times it failed to start. It would crank and fire, and then die. Turned off the key, then started normally. Guess I should have codes or whatever checked, but it just happened those few times, then ran fine. No big deal.
I do however kick myself for not getting the 5.4 because the 4.6 is such a slug sometimes. Still a great engine though.

97 4.6 auto. 153,000 miles. No engine, body or interior repairs yet other than a new oil filler cap. Just preventive maintenance, fluids, plugs, plug wires, etc. Front end is making some noise though so first mechanical repair is probably just around the corner.
I've got over 106,500 miles on my 97 F150 and have absolutely no problems what so ever. I've done all the preventive work (oil changes, transmission/cooling system flushes, etc... I've added some other stuff, (MSD coils, Iridium Plugs, wires, electric fan, etc...it's all there in my signature...I've been very satisfied with my truck, although would love more power...

73,000 on my 1999 Reg Cab 4x4 XLT. No problems. Oil/filter changes every 3k miles. Flushed out the coolant. Added new Hayden 10,000lb tranny cooler. Did a fuel system cleaning. Air conditioning is acting funny but drivetrain is as good as the day I bought her! Given the truck a lot of crazy muddin' and off-roading. She doesn't skip a beat. Can't go wrong with my "Furd".

Owner of a 2001 SCrew (60,000 mi/100,000 km). Was it an exec driven truck with 33,000 km (about 20,000 mi) on it when I bought it Jan 2001. Do not drive it offroad. Have not had any major problems. Am presently in the market for new tires (originals still on truck about 5000 more kms left on rubber). Any suggestions re: best replacement would be appreciated (especially from fellow SCrew owners living in Ontario, Canada). Also ready for new plugs (platinum); new air and fuel filters' and cleaning of the Throttlebody and fuel injectors (any advice on these?) also idle adjustment is probably due.
Have enjoyed my FIRST truck (after having driven Volvo's for 28 years) - - my daughter works for a Divisioin of Ford and she got me a good deal on my truck.
Look forward to any replies.
