Service problems with my 03
Service problems with my 03
hey everyone, i went to drop my truck off today at the dealership to get it worked on....the driver seat is starting to rip on the seam but their replacing that next tuesday and fixing it....this is the second time ive had it in for my speedometer not working and their finally going to replace the whole cluster.....but theres still yet a problem, my seat squeaking!!!! they said they cant duplicate the noise so they really cant touch it....how do i deal with them to make them fix it? i know its there, i hear it constantly when i have a passenger with me only, someone told me it could be the lumbar support which is what i think too, but they said they wont fix it unless they know what that is and unless they hear it, i dont think a 5minute drive will be long enough to duplicate the sound....any suggestions on how to get my dealership to go ahead and fix the squeaking in my truck? its only 2months old and has 6,000miles on it. im starting to get PO'd
thank guys and gals

could very well be the lumbar support. You may have to just arrange a ride with them. If it takes longer than 5 mins. , it takes longer...once you are driving, they are kinda a captive audience ;-)
If it really bothers you, and then won't investigate on their own, tell them you can show them with a "short" ride and then take them out for however long it takes.
Good Luck.

oh boy
I'm a svc advisor and when my techs can't duplicate a concern I have the owner come in and ride with them to try and reduplicate the concern. Noises are the worst for my techs, especially interior noises. Call the service manager and tell him you are not pleased with the attempt to repair you truck. Most managers will go out of the way to help you once they know the customer is ticked.
Got my truck back today.......their going to fix my ripped seat.....seems as though i was told wrong and they wont be fixing my speedometer or my squeaky seat, they couldnt "duplicate" what happend and said ford will not provide them the parts to fix it. how do i deal with this now? of course their not going to be able to duplicate the problem, im leaving it with them all next week in attempt for the problems to maybe happen for them. any suggestions on how i can get them to fix it if the problem doesnt show for them? they said if the speedo stops working to bring it in right when it happens if their open, i just think thats major BS!

I can see both sides here, technician doesn't get paid on no problem founds, of course a tech wants to find a problem so he can make the customer happy and make money off the repair. I have had intermittant problem cars in my shop that the tech puts over 100 miles on, never finds a problem, cust leaves the dealership and calls within 5 minutes and problem is reoccuring. Like I said get involved with the service manager if you have to, make sure the manager confirms the diagnosis the tech has done and if the tech cant duplicate it, the tech should call technical assistance and check with them on possible problems. Remain calm and a good svc mgr will help you all the way. If they told you they were replacing the cluster, then raise hell until they replace the cluster!!! Tell the svc mgr the advisor told you they were replacing it... Im an advisor for 11 hours a day, I see how customers get what they want sometimes....
