Leasing and Modifications
kaliscrew2k2,
I leased an F150 Supercab from ford and the dealer told me any modifications I made had to be removed and returned to stock. That was in 98' so I dont know if they have changed anything or if it is specific to certain dealers.

My last 2 trucks where leased and I did some mods to them. But I did keep it simple such as headlights, taillights, bedcovers and a liner. All which I was able to take off after the lease was up and put all the factory equipment back in its place. then I was able to sell all the clear lights and bedcover on Ebay which gave me some money to start on the next leased vehicle.
The way I see it my truck is a company vehicle and I drive it for 4-5 years so what I put on it I am able to enjoy and still get some money out of it when the time comes to turn in the truck. Just don't do anything like a paint job they will get you on that!
Look at my sig. thats everthing I have on this leased truck

In my opinion, leasing is the stupidest thing ever! It's good for the dealers, but, in my opinion, stupidity on the buyer's, or leaser's part. With leasing, all you do is spend your money with nothing to show for it in the end. Just stupid, in my opinion anyway. I don't know about the rest of you, but thats just the weay i feel. :o

Okay, just found this out. My Ford dealer (sales person) said that it was okay to make modifications to a leased vehicle only if it does not degrade the quality/ value of the original function of the part(s) replaced.
For example, installing a Line-X bedliner was okay to do beause it added protection and resale value to the truck. However, replacing the original tailgate with a Pro-Net is out of the question. Go figure.
At first I thought that sounded strange for them to say such a thing, but then I found out that this particular Ford dealer had a speed shop of their own! ...encouraging the use and sales of lift kits, bumpers, brush guards, off road wheels and tires, superchargers, exhaust systems, you name it.
