Angry Key pad problems

My key pad tooka a crap on me today and locked my keys in my truck. Luckily I was at my shop and I was able to slim jim the door. The problem is though that the unit keeps turning on the interior lights after I lock the doors. Is there any reset procedure for these keypads? Mine is totally unresponsive and wont even lock the doors using the keypad. And to make matters worse,I pushed the keypad halfway into the door handle in a fit of rage. Anyone else had this problem? Thanks---Paul

Seems as though your keypad has 'crapped' out. It might be covered under warranty and could possibly be serviced by your dealer.

If not you can easily replace the keypad in 1-2 hours.
You can order them from www.fordpartsonline.com as PN YL3Z14A626AA for the keypad actuator. It's about $59.79 plus shipping.

Sounds like this is probably a warranty issue because there's not a procedure that I'm aware of....

G'luck with your stealership.... Warranty work is always a MEGA-HASSLE.

That's too bad. Hopefully the dealer will replace it without hassle

I really love the keypad feature, and I use mine every day. I have known others who owned their Fords for years and would never, ever use the thing. I'm gonna go put this in the "things I love about my truck" thread.

When my truck was a month old, one of the lights on a single number went out. It still functioned perfectly. I took it to the dealer and they replaced the whole thing. Evident'y, the units are all self contained, and easily replaced. If it fails, just throw it away and pop in a new one.

As far as the interior light being tied in, I don't think there is much you can do about it short of disconnecting the interior lights.

I had a question for you guys about the keypad. I have been thinking about one for a while and was wondering if it would work on a 1998 Supercab F150 XLT. Do any of you know if it would and where I would get the parts for this? Thanks for your help if you can help me.
