DB...

db is the sensitivity and is derived from lab testing the loudness of the speaker at 1 meter away (in front) with 1 watt of power... So... The higher the db, the less power it takes to run 'em...

edited..

Or, At a certain volume setting, the higher db speaker will be louder than that of a lower rated speaker.. Make sense?

I changed my front speakers out for the Pioneer 3-way 6x8's and the rears with Pioneer 2-way 6x8's. It sounds much better IMO. What's more, they were in Crutchfield's scratch and dent section, which was a much better price than the regular price.

Hey dufunnel, what model Pioneer's did you go with?

I was thinking about doing the EXACT same thing with my KR.

Mine are 3 ways...

Check the sig block and you can see the number - you don't need to go into the gallery though...

How do you like the Pioneer TS-A6867, they got them on sale at futureshop. $140cdn/$90us I was thinking of getting 4 of those. Or 2 for now, for the front. WHere do you have your 8" sub ReelWork? I might just copy your system Might as well go with tried and test. What are you running for an amp?

Was thinking of maybe sticking Sony XSL1036 10" Subwoofer under the rear seat. On sale for $80 cdn.

Also 2 channel or 4 channel sub?

I like them...

Granted I have them on the stock HU and I am running a Clarion camo sub but the sound is pretty darned good... I can't complain one bit. Now, there are better speakers and there are worse but for the money, I felt that these had the best sound.

Don't forget that sound is personal preference, so what I like in the way of sound may not be what you like.

Later,

Chris (ReelWork)

Oh yeah, if you look at my gallery, there are pics of the Clarion sub, where it mounts etc. and I show that Crutchfield is still selling the subs for a real bargain at under $150...

Clarion Sub at Crtuchfield

Also, I started a thread a few months back with install directions and how to properly mount the sub without drilling into the floor (or drilling into anything for that matter!) I really like it though.... and give it a big in fit, finish and sound quality

Here's the link.

Clarion Sub Install Thread

Now, it won't blow your socks off, but it will definitely give you some boom and won't take up any unnecessary room but instead gives you an extra tray!

RockPick, Daveman, Dufunnel, MikeF150, Willdreness and others have also purchased one and they seem to really like it. In fact I think Rock, Daveman and Dufunnel were who kind of swayed me to get mine...

Can you just by a box like that? OR do you have to buy the box & clarion sub? I like where its at, but wouldn't mind something with a lil more power.

I don't know...

The Clarion is powered and come self contained with adaptor wires. I supposed one could replace the speaker and run an amp to it?? Just a thought, but anything further than that like subbox.net or something, I don't have any experience...

Sorry!
