oh, and i forgot to ask, where did you find Throttle bodys? and how much are they. I have heard that on the Ls they dont really help that much. but i would be willing to try after i have done everything else i have planned.

I was looking at the Accufab tb, or a Ford Racing "Boss" tb. The accufabs range from 70-105mm. The FR Boss is 86mm. I am checking on the connection of the TPS and ISC and also any mounting issues.

OK if I don't need the adjustable reg. I will wait till the tune and see if one is necessary. I went with Bosch fuel pumps.

Can I install the 42# inj and 90mmMAF before I get the chip reburned? I was going to install before I drove to JDM.

Steve - is the breather a Ford Racing part? do you have a P/N ?
Does it install in place of the oil filler or does it go in one of the breather holes on either valve cover?

Definately going with a 12# pulley. I was hoping to have it for the tune as well.

Crash/Skid, can the stock internals (5.4) handle a 14# pulley???
Thanks!
chris

all you need to get rid of the FMU is the 90MM MAF, the #42 Injectors and the Chip burn. I also got a crank breather, just because it has to be burned in the chip. and it helps with oil "blow-by" i think there is a thread on it somewhere. Anyway, the Fuel mods and chip helped a ton down low. Remember when we had the discussion about the Burnouts?? well..... now i can do a burnout no problem with a little bit of power breaking(not much). On the 5.4 the ajustable rails ae not necessary. the rails are diffrent though, they have an adjustment on the regulator. It can be used to slightly adjust fuel, but i think the ratios right now on my truck are perfect. and i dont have the rails. The next thing i will replace is the fuel pump, simply because the ATI unit i making me crazy. but it supplys plenty of fuel in the meantime. Good luck with your mod install.... You will be very pleased with the results. Are you going to got the 12PSI pulley too? i am awaiting a call from crash and i expect to have it in a month or so.... depending on how long it takes them to machine it. In the meantime i think i will be doing electric fans like you did.

How has the fuel mods affected gas mileage?

On a side note, what can one expect from a throttle body upgrade in conjunction with the #42 inj and 90mm MAF?

FordTRK,

Hey! Are you having information overload yet? ha! Have you decided what you are going to do? 7 pounder? 9 pounder with a new belt tensioner? wait on new mods? wait and talk to Crash! before you decide?

Isn't a little highperformance knowledge just dangerous.......to your credit card!!!!!!!!! ha!

!!!!!!!!!!

I am going to go with the 7 pounder just to me safe. I found out today that Magnacharger no longer makes / sells the Ford setup?!? No Allen handles it?!?! Is this the "same" kit? I got a good price!

Ford TRK,

Sorry, I thought you had aleady ordered one and knew. A couple of months ago they switched back to Allen. As you already know, Scott at Allen Engine Developement is very helpful. He can and will answer all your questions.

Yes you have a magnacharger kit. The supercharger itself is a Eaton M-90 supercharger. Eaton granted a license to Magnuson the (exclusive?) right to sell new Eaton supercharger in at least the U.S. Magnuson worked with Allen Engine Development to make a Kit for the supercharger, via the Magnacharger kit. Therefore, Allen developed the manifold and figured out the various components of the Kit.

Scott will be more than happy to tell you their complete history and what there plans are. From what he told me, they are already upgrading the kits and making them even better. For example, the kits now come with a Lightning intercooler pump.

Working is good, it supplies $$$ for toys unless you have the proverbial silver spoon.

Keep working, keep buying, thats how we all do our part for the US economy.

Crash/Skid, the 'Phoon is finally gone, I'll be in touch next week, $$$ in hand.

The fuel mods do not affect fuel milage. If you measure that close then they will actully help on fuel milage because the fuel is now properly metered with computer controles vs. manual with the FMU.

The oil breather mod is a good Idea, however do not bypass the pcv system. We have worked on that and could never make it run correctly. The oil breather will reduce the oil pull but not completely eliminate it.

I have not tried to start a truck with the mods and no chip. If it actually would run it would throw codes all day. I do not belive it is a good Idea to do this. The maf etc. needs to be installed with a chip all at one time.
