Question What is this?????????

HI!... I usually know my way around a engine compartment very well, but when I relocated my battery with a "NPP" battery relocation kit, I found this black ABS square box behind where the factory battery was. It has a vacuum line running to it. I'm thinking it's a modern version of a vacuum canister. Am I right? Does anyone know what this is. Here's a pic.

Well, I thought I might be able to provide some imformation but.....
I went looking in my service manual on CD. I can't tell for sure but I get the impression that it is a vaccume reservoir tank? It has something to do with the A/C. I deffinitley could be way off on this. It is the only thing I could find that was located behind the battery.
Now I want to know what it is.
It would be cool if I found the right thing but I'm not going to hold my breath!

(So, I thought I could come up with this before anyone else. I should have known better. The answer has been in the engines section for a good part of the day. Oh well, I tried.)

HI!... Well I no longer have A/C on my truck and why would I try to use my heater controls with my engine off? LOL! So I guess it would be safe to remove it then. Thanks guys. I figured that's what it was, but was'nt totally sure.

Question question

why do you no longer have AC on your truck? maybe it's just because I live in Florida, but I can't possibly see the reason for taking it out. Please enlighten me.

Cool

HI!... I took it out because my warranty was gone and the A/C compressor's bearing went. My dealer blamed it on my power pulleys, but the moron's there don't realize that power pulleys slow down the acceseries, not speed them up. IDIOTS! They wanted almost $400(CAN) for a new A/C compressor, $100(CAN) for the labour to do it and $60(CAN) to re-charge the A/C system. NO THANKS. I've had my truck over 3 years and I think I've only used my A/C about 10 times. I prefer to drive with the windows open, but that's me. I bought a A/C eliminator pulley tensioner and shorter belt for less than $100(CAN). I then just totally removed ALL the A/C equipment including the condensor. Now I have a place to mount my custom fabricated aftercooler, and alternator after I install the MAGNACHARGER. The weight savings were about 60LBs. Also when the A/C is NOT running it steals about 5-7H.P. When the A/C is running it can steal upwards of 15-25H.P.
