thanks, crash...

basically, i would just like to see the dyno chart because I want to do it *right* the first time.

For instance, i have tried a couple of different chips in my truck and noticed that one brand tended to stay in a particular gear longer than another. That same chip also downshifted with less pedal pressure. There is a range on the dyno chart where torque and hp are strongest. I want a completely custom chip that will make it easier to stay in that range. I don't care about gas mileage as a result...

Also, it seems that when my currently superchipped truck winds to 5400 before shifting (is that the standard setting for the s-chip?) it seems to be going past the power point. I realize that the 1-2 shift drops the rpms, but to where? 2500, 3000? If I change to 3.73s (no 4.10s for me, thanks), that will help the rpms up the band a couple hundred i guess, so does that mean a 5200 shift point is better?

Last, but not least, I will probably consider a nitrous express kit if I can figure out where to mount the bottle without having it hang out in the bed. (the one that only opens at high rpms so you don't grenade your tranny.

Last, but not least, i will definitely be putting in a transmission kit to make sure I get quick, clean shifts without snapping my neck in the process.

So the point of my dyno request is not that I don't believe you, but I tend to do my homework beforehand when doing upgrades.

I am in the NW houston area and was initially referred to madman and co. racing here as they are an auth. ATI dealer, but what he told me didn't add up. I asked if he had done a 5.4 f150 ATI. He said a couple -- one a harley crew cab. I asked if he dynoed the truck. He said no. How do you know if it is tuned right without a dyno after the install? He said they went straight to the track and his track time dropped by a full second. That sounds kind of weak to me. I figured that should be about -2 secs or am I missing something?

Ok, enough from me for this round.

Cool

Redscrew01, Here is my dyno from November 2001. I was running a 7 lb pulley. The F/A was not working that day but it should give you an idea of the RWHP and Torque curves.

I hopes this helps you. If you will go to my album at the bottom of my signature, you can get some shots of the upper part of the Magnacharger. Good luck!

Madman KNOWS superchargers very well. He was the first to put a ProCharged f-body in the 9's. Make sure you talk to Brian Jeffery. Now, as to whether he is familiar with our trucks. Probably somewhat but not a lot. It is not his specialty. However, I do recommend him for the installation of a supercharger, if no one else is who is extremely familiar with our trucks is not available. Nonetheless, I do not recommend him for the tuning. Like Crash said, the tuning will be done through a custom chip by Mike Troyer.

My advice, take it to Crash in Dallas.

Just my opinion guys but....

Two of the above three posts shouldn't be here. Let business be business and keep it that may. There is nothing to be gained by stating business differences on the boards for either side and there are always two sides to every story.

Can't we all just get along?

Confused

I bought my Magnacharger kit from you at the end of February and you told me to contact Mike on the chip programming. You said, "He wil take very good care of you." I did so and he programmed my chip for me. Now you say that he hasn't tuned your trucks since October. Why was I directed to him if you don't feel is doing a good job? I don't know what to think, now.

This can make it uncomfotable for us, the consumer.
I for one think it's a good idea to support the vendors on this site because they provide the support necessary to keep this thing up and running.
I have recieved a lot of great help and advice from many people on the boards, and when it is a vendor, taking the time to attend to my concerns, I would like to return the favor. If they carry a product that I am interested in I would buy from an F150 Online vendor before I bought from a discount supply.
I can only spread my dollar so thin so it's hard to buy something from all the vendors. In due time I could pass on the favor.
I understand that there is a valid question that people have in reguards to who is tuning the chip. We don't need to know all the goings on of the supporting vendors.
I think it's easier to make a decision to purchase something if we don't have to think it will fuel the flames of a conflict that (should be)[is] going on behind the scenes.
I like to think of this place as a "family" or group of friends. I think we would all be better off without any unnecessary tension.
Of course this is only my opinion so I may be alone in thinking this way.
Can we talk about going fast now?

Hey guys. sorry I have been totally sick. Here is a link to my dyno numbers. I will get the dyno's posted after chip tune etc.

looks like I missed a cat fight with Crash! and Neal. Why is everyone upset Mike is not tuning our chips. Hell we just had a difference of opinion not like we are hating on the guy. Actually Mike is a very good tuner we just dis-agreed on how we want ours, no big deal.

The above dyno was directly after the install with no tune. So the numbers you see are what you get with an out of the box kit. My numbers have come up from there with the intake mod and chip and tranny kit etc. I will get those posted as soon as I can.

let it go crash, i think Neal is the only one who really took offense to it. You made one comment about political bs and nothing seemed out of line to me (my opion)
Mike is a proffesional guy who would probably pick the phone up and call you if he had a problem. MIke probably chit a brick when he saw what Neal posted and he might have even told Neal to back off.

and while i like the idea of supporting vendors here, i like the idea more of the the person i am buying product from having good business relations with whoever is suppling them and getting me, the consumer, the best results. If/when i buy a chip it would probably be from mike. if i bought an ati supercharger from crash i would probably let him turn key it and enjoy the benefits of testing that all those before me went through. dont know how many he has owned or installed but he is bound to have figured out a few things.

Cool

HI!... BROTHERDAVE : I deleted my post so not to cause a flame war. I had just posted the REAL reason why MIKE T no longer does CRASH's custom SUPERCHIPS. After re-reading my post I decided to delete it myself because I thought I should not open this up to public eyes. Mike T and I are VERY good freinds and are actually partners in a buisness venture ("NPP"). I just happened to read the thread when I was in a pissed off mood and let it all fly. I appolagize if I offended anyone including MIKE/CRASH. We all have our bad days, that just happened to be one of mine.

Great to see the first hand numbers Skid. Did you have good flow over the cooler when you made the runs? Just curious as I've seen nothing to monster fans used....

Also was this with the inline pump in place?

Yes the inline pump was in place. It comes in the kit. No other fuel mods done. No air flowing over the innercooler. I thought about it after the fact. Next time I might shoot a NOS bottle at it to cool it off, but that would be cheating. Those numbers with air flowing across would probably add about 5 HP (being very conservitave). Spraying NOS across would yeild about 40 to 50 HP as claimed by NX. I prefer not to run air across and just get a good number. This way when you run at the track with air flow you get better results.
