My dad picked up a low miles orange 2003 Boss 54 that looks like the package may have come with a ProCharger. Well, since we don't know how well they installed it we took it over to HPP to shake it down. It has blue injectors that they thought were 36 or 38 lb, not sure if it has the FMU mod to add fuel but it was providing adequate fuel and was pig rich at WOT. I encouraged him to let them tune it to make it run right and came away with 10% more power, about what a stock Lightning does. See below...
362 HP 434 lb/ft at the wheels
My dad is happy with it. HPP said a smaller pulley would net more power and headers may be worth about 20. They didn't think a Lightning MAF would give it anything. Really liked HPP and their staff, they did a great job. I've never seen so many Mustangs in one place.
no reason to upgrade a maxed out MAF, just let it max out and take out the motor, seems legit but then again it's HPP so be glad it made it off the rollers
I'm familiar with LS engines or smaller forced induction engines and new to mod motors. From what I've read it takes a lot to max a MAF. How could you tell if it was a limiting factor?
I've come across very little negative feedback about HPP and overwhelmingly positive reviews. I saw a 1300 HP Mustang on the dyno and they were working on a twin turbo setup for a brand new car. I'm surprised you don't have anything good to say about them. Is there a story there or do you prefer one of their competitors?
