Saleen supercharger on a 2007 f150 Harley truck

Hi
The truck was purchased new from ford and had already the Saleen supercharger installed on it.
I purchased premium extended warranty thru Ford dealership all way to 137.500 miles as ford capped it on that. I am now at 135.500 miles with only 2000 miles left for this premium ford warranty to expire and the Saleen supercharger is now making a clinking noise.I never raced this truck as is not my nature to speed. Truck was never molested and always serviced at same ford dealership.
The dealership is still checking but saying that the supercharger is not covered, how come? Truck came with that option on it. ESP ford premium warranty purchased thru ford. I did everything I was supposed to do to prevent for future inconveniences but apparently still "burned"
Anyone out there that had similar situation.
I love this truck I love ford cars, I was always a ford guy, but if this will not be covered by ford I will never again buy a truck from Ford. They cannot point fingers onto Saleen saying we cannot cover Saleen even if truck came from ford dealership with that option installed
Ford attracted the customer (me) into buying a car with options put in by and under their name ( options:Harley Davidson and Saleen options )

from literature on the f150 saleen

The 2008 Saleen S331 Sport Truck will start at $54,200 when it becomes available for order. The factory 3-year/36,000 mile warranty remains in effect and is supplemented with a identical warranty from Saleen on all Saleen-specific components.
This implies to me that a new 2008 saleen had 2 warranties, one for the base truck from Ford and another that covered the saleen parts. I beleve this is how Roush works. I dont think roush offers a warranty after 36k miles.

to further confuse things, saleen changed ownership around 2008 - 2009 and at that time warranties were and issue, why? because saleen warrantied there products , not ford. yes ford did the work , but saleen paid.

All warranties created before February 2, 2009 were to be serviced by Saleen, Inc., but with the company's cessation of operations, that leaves those buyers out in the cold, and responsible for their own warranty costs. Future warranties on parts purchased after February 2, 2009 from the new Saleen owned by MJ Acquisitions will carry a full 12 month/12,000mi warranty, however, said Jim Dvorak of the Saleen Owners and Enthusiasts Club in a letter to members this week

I can appreciate your upset, however as Brotherdave noted the two brands Ford and Saleen are separate deals. Check the fine print of your warranty to see if it excludes a supercharger. If not then you would likely win a court case.
Or spare that expense and send the blower to Jon Bond Performance. https://www.jonbondperformance.com
Excellent service, honest evaluation, and fair prices. I would definitely do business with them again.

The ESP warranty literature states that it covers any supercharger and turbocharger that was factory installed. The F150 Harley Davidson trucks came out with option of a Saleen supercharger or without one.
The sticker price for the truck was $47.000 with no supercharger and $53.000 with a Saleen supercharger

so the million dollar question is who installed the supercharger.

ford (the factory) or Saleen or the Dealer. I am guessing the install was done at saleens and that the saleen warranty covered the supercharger.

I would guess the factory installed supercharger refers to the lightning, some cobras and the 01 - 04 harley davidson. Generaic terms to cover the line of ford vehicles.

I have no skin in this game and am only pointing out my opinion. No one considers the 07 saleen f150 a factory supercharged truck. 99 -04 lightning and 01 - 04 harley...yes. If you owned a 2003 harley davidson f150 then i would say without a doubt that you are covered.

to me this is a dirty little secret of owning a roush, saleen, callaway, steeda vehicle, there are 2 warranties. i also don't think they appreciate in value like a factory hot rod.

i have to ask, what did a 9 year 136k mile warranty cost? I am a little surprised they offered something that long and also surprised at the millage, typically they base the years and millage on a 1 year = 12 ,000 miles. So a 9 year warranty would go 108,000 and a 10 year would go 120k.

Update
The 5 star ford dealership (Plano) said that ESP denied the repair and so did they.
I read the fine print from ESP, the extended warranty I signed, and i noticed 2 check boxes that the dealership failed to check (supercharger, turbocharger). When I signed the extended warranty contract, twice, never crossed my mind to ask what is that about and why not check marked. Having this truck at this dealership from when it had as low as 6.000 (previously i use to take it to another ford dealership) never thought that the so called "covers all" warranty will not cover the supercharger. Now my second concern is this: in 2014 I purchased from same Ford dealership a brand new explorer sport which has a turbocharger on it. After 10.000 miles I purchased from the dealership (same one) same kind ESP premium warranty. Now looking at the contract for this warranty I see that they again failed to check mark the section where says turbocharger. I asked the manager, will I also get denied on this one if I will have a turbocharger issue on the explorer (don't have any problems with it now). Manager said: well, that is a factory installed turbocharger
This ESP is good but the seller (Sam Pack 5 star ford dealership-Plano) of that contract was tricky and did not described in detail what the warranty really covers.
For my Harley truck, my first extended warranty ESP expired at around 77.000 miles but before I let that happened, I purchased from same dealership same warranty for up to 137.000.
The cost of the ESP was around $2600 each time due to I chose a special option of "disappearing deductible" and of course free car rental.
My frustration is that the dealership knew this truck and what options had on it at both times when I signed the extended warranty and it was not honest to let me know that the Saleen supercharger is not covered. They just wanted to get my money.
My lawyer is getting all the info now, he is telling me that it is a fraud what they did. The case will not stop here and we will update you on the results.

lawyer will cost a lot more than a supercharger rebuild.

Ford and esp have lawyers that will eat him up with paper work and fine print.

your explorer turbo is covered. i would call to make sure.

It is not about the money but the fact that this dealership twice failed to be honest about the ESP coverage.

That is an option a highly sought after option! If it's ****ing up STOP DRIVING IT! A simple supercharger rebuild can end up a whole engine rebuild. Not sure how old this thread is. But that truck is worth $$$

since saleen is not factory, that would be a very simple understanding

the next issue, is maintenance

and if the supercharger oil was not changed within the required time / mileage, it would void any “warranty” coverage

2008 F150 Saleen Harley Davison

Hello my name is Alberto and new to this site. My engine needs to be replaced. I am going to replace 5.4L V3 vin the same as any other engine. I would just add on the the saleen supercharge on the new engine? This new engine is the normal block as the one I have in the truck now. Did saleen do any alternation the the block itself? My question is. Is the 5.4L V3 vin in the truck now the same as any other 5.4L or have they done something to it.

Thank you
Alberto

IMHO, go direct to the supercharger mfg and find if they make a kit for your model or who has developed a kit for your model with their supercharger. Saleeen is a company that has has beyond customer issues for decades....to the point that many Ford dealers will not engage in any business with them..... Saleen buys their SC's from a mfg..... don't remember who right now..... but I would avoid like the plague Saleen

there’s no “special” anything to the internals

I strongly suggest you to resolve whatever caused the engine failure before installing the new one
