GT500 Short Block for my Build

Been wanting to go built for a long time. Debating many factors. Realiability being a top factor, expense being another. Then I stumbled upon my answer. A GT500 short block. These motors are plenty strong for my needs, capable of 800+rwhp and 6500rpms. I have no intentions of exceeding 550-600rwhp as I want to have a fun street truck not a dedicated track machine. I will be picking it up tomorrow. Really looking forward to this. Reliabilty of a factory assembled motor and much easier on the budget. Pics as soon as I pick it up

Thanks George. Was sad to see you sold your truck. She was a beauty. I shouldn't keep modding this one and sometimes I think Bout parting it out and returning to stock to trade for something else. But I've had so much fun modding this one.

For those who asked above it is a 5.4 iron block. Same as our trucks. Same crankshaft. Has forged aluminum pistons, and heavier duty powdered rods. So it can handle 6500rpm and 800rwhp as it sits.

Here. Some great videos of this engine running the quarter mile, idle, and dyno sheet.

Looks good, are you going for the DOHC 4V Heads too?

Nice one.

Hope it is a good motor.

4v conversion would be a nightmare.

No not going 4V. That's a can of worms I have no desire to open. This was simply a cheap easy way of getting a bottom end that can hold the power. $1250 verses building the one I have at $2600. I have yet to make any decisions as to which direction I will go. New ported heads, port these heads, or just swap everything over as is. Cost wise simply swapping everything over with fresh timing componets and seals would be preferred. I would like to at least port the factory heads and add blower cams. Just need money and time.
