Cool cut-outs?

Hi there.

I have true duals, and 2 mufflers with hot rod cams.

I find the cams to be too quiet with the mufflers.

I'd like to have the option to be able to switch my exhaust with and without mufflers.

This is exactly what I am looking for:

Thoughts? Options?

I'd go stainless. Aluminum corrodes.

Damn does that sound good! But that thing is smoking a lot. I have LTs and no cats and mine doesn't smoke anywhere near that much.

It is outside of the shop where the exhaust was installed. The engine is cold and the exhaust is burning off the oils........

I just called summit and negotiated the price from $475.97 down to $407.66, free shipping no tax, pretty sweet deal!

Once I receive it I'll make a before/after video

By the way, JDM doesn't recommend cutouts because they say that they will fail overtime.

can't wait!

Yea I've seen a few that leaked over time. They are badass while they work. I'm getting some FRPP Hotrod cams soon and I'll see how it sounds on my truck. My truck is quiet at idle for the most part.

why are you copying me with the cams!?

if your truck is quiet at idle, the hot rod cams will barely make a difference on the sound part, but performance wise it feels a lot better.

I got the cams for the sound, which I don't have now, hence the need for cutouts.

The cutouts I got are stainless steel, come with a one year warranty and if the motor fails it is a $30 replacement.

With my long tubes, no cats and 22" single maggy my idle still is fairly loud, but not near the level of that mustang lol. I say its quiet due to my last 3 exhaust setups being stupid, neighbor pissing off, loud. I think you'll still be able to tell the truck has cams especially when I'm waiting in line at the bank or a drive through where it will echo off the walls.

Did your exhaust tone change any through out the RPMs? Blower guys are getting 30-50RWHP through the powerband with like a peak of 25rwhp. Should feel pretty good.

yes the tone changed a bit, but I went from single in to dual in and with 2 mufflers it became much quieter

I do feel a difference in acceleration, let's say I keep the throttle at 50% it seems like it is accelerating quicker than before and longer before changing gear.

Before I had to go say 75% to throttle to get to the same speed at 50% throttle, and the acceleration feels more consistent.

Overall I'm very happy with the cams, 2nd best mod after the blower to me.

With no cats and long tubes I've ran no mufflers with true dual (stupid loud at all times), 2 14" maggie mufflers (also loud but not near as bad), and my current setup is a 22" Maggie dual in dual out and idle the truck is noticeable especially near a wall or drive through, WOT its loud. I had the saleen exhaust setup where its single in dual out and it was actually quiet while cruising but ungodly on startup, idle, and wot.

What size mufflers are you running and what brand?

How do you know that? If that's the case, understandable, cause mine smoked a tiny little bit with my catback and not at all after the install of the long tubes. I figure 8" of cutouts aren't going to produce smoke like that unless the entire exhaust was just installed, and I didn't think that was the case.

Yeah, failing is part of my concern. You could always get the manual caps, but those aren't as fun and you can't just open them up in two seconds at a traffic light.

Can't bring myself to install cams on this motor, but if I don't own a Mustang too by the time this motor blows . . .

Either bad valve guide seals or blown head gasket is how it looks

Thanks. Don't see how the small bit of exhaust oils could produce smoke like that. Sounds damn good though!

not sure about the size.. CM mufflers straight through (twinscrew idea), I could take a photo of the exhaust if you want

except that I need 2x (you only sell 1), that yours is steel (I want stainless), yours is 3" (I need 2.5"), and that you don't have the complete kit with the wires and etc.
