Autolite HTO or look at Brisk 3VR12S these are for the 5.4.

Wow never heard anything like that. Solid plug in my opinion. Very pleased with it thus far. Love my HTO's to so I'm gonna have a hard time when I have to make a decision next time around.

I had Brisk before and the last batch had 6 of the 8 where the porcelin would spin causing the exhaust gasses to blow past the nut. I am back to HT0 gapped at 32

I just bought new HTO's to put in my truck and was wondering how you set the gap due to the design of these plugs?

or just run them the way they are? The box says you don't gap them?

i'm confused, i've never seen a plug like this before.

any ideas?

Yes you have to gap them. .030 - .033. Heres a link to the tool and quite frankly the cheapest I have ever seen these plugs.

Here is another option for gapping the plugs, I have one. The **** is a little small, but it does work pretty good.

So i have my truck at the shop for them to replace my plugs, i bought the HTO's. it had Brisk silver racing XOR12YS plugs in it they said and that these HTO's will not work because the size and threads are completely different. WTF?!
my truck is an '08 w/ the 5.4 3v
i don't know if its the later updated brown cap design or not. would that make the HTO's not work?

brown booted cops have spark plugs like the ones in the top of this picture....

black booted cops have spark plugs in the bottom of this picture....

The cop boot color is the visual aid to determine which type of plugs you have without taking them out...

2008 5.4 3v had a head revision due to the spark plug breakage problem found in the 04-07's MY.....

I looked at the boots before I bought the plugs and thought they looked black, but apparently were the brown ones.
Still learning about this stuff
Thanks for the reply!

Did you buy your truck used?

Just speculating....The only way that there would be black boots on a revised head is that it was worked on prior to your knowledge and someone used black boots to replace the brown ones....I've run into this twice at the shop where I work part time, usually on mustangs....

yep, I bought it used about 4 months ago. It had the Roush SC, Brisk plugs, headers, exhaust and 1st tune installed at 25,000 miles. I bought it with 45,000 and just recently clicked over 50,000. And i see that they recommend plugs being changed every 25k or so. So i figured i'd keep up on the maintenance schedule to keep this thing running good. I could've swore the boots were black, but they were dirty so it was my fault for not know exactly what I had.

The shop I had it at said the Brisk plugs still look just fine and are gapped at .032" so I'll return my HTO's as soon as I can and change plugs at next oil change.

I obviously haven't gotten my new plugs yet, but was wondering if anyone knew where you can get Brisk Silver Racing plugs other than directly from their website?

I work part time at my local O'reilly Auto Parts and we don't carry them and they're not a vendor I can order from and get a discount from

$18.99 a piece for the XOR12YS = YIKES!!!!!!
