HD supercharger on my 02 crew
HD supercharger on my 02 crew
Hey guys im new to the forum i have a 02 supercrew 5.4L and i had bought a HD edition supercharger used on e-bay a number of years back, im finally getting around to wanting to put this thing on. and i understand there is more involved that what i had originally thought. the assembly i have came with the lower intake manifold/ the intercooler/ and twin screw charger with oval intake plenum and throttle body. i have been doing some browsing on this site and saw some kits that are being thrown together. much help would be appreciated, is anybody throwing a kit together with detailed instructions and what is the cost. im kinda on my own on this and im not really sure where to start
Just a guise, but you probably have an Eaton M112 (roots) blower. Not a twin-screw.
You need everything in this pic!

Plus you need 95% of this list, and a tuner with a custom tune.

Depending on if you search for used parts or buy them new, plan on 3 to 5K.

hey thanks for the picture. i have this whole setup minus the injectors and and all the wiring. alright so some other questions i have, been reading some more threads as im digging deeper into this. mostly on reliability with swaps done to trucks with some miles on it. my truck has just over 90k so what can i expect and what problems can i avoid. also any info on where i could get the wiring/plugins and injectors would be helpful, and what can i expect to gain in terms of horsepower. again i have the lower intake/intercooler/charger with pulley/ throttlebody/ fuel rails
Lightningrodder forum has a lot of parts you need to go with what you started with. I took MADS instrcutions and modified based on my installation and can provide if you send email. With a stock bottom end 5.4 don't get wild with boost. I also installed mine at 90K, upped boost to 12lbs, started blowing oil out exhaust at 120K. Built up forged bottom end, now running 16lbs with ported eaton no problems. Well I take it real easy on tranny since 4R70W and now at 170K miles.
I forget what pieces are not mentioned on the mad enterprises site that you'd need, but things like throttle cable, cruise control cable and controller, air intake, etc come to mind. I'm in the "collecting" stage right now, almost done, and found good deals out there. Things like the intercooler pump can be bought for hundreds less than the dealer, got mine on ebay. My biggest thing right now is saving up for a built bottom end! Once that is bought, it's on!

Lightning Alternator (outright, no core return)
Alternator Stabilizer Bracket
Intercooler Pump with Bracket and Pigtail
Intercooler Reservoir with Cap
IAC Tube
Throttle Cable
Throttle Cable Bracket
Cruise Control Cable
IAT Sensor (fits in air cleaner)
Water Pump Spacer
PCV Tube (left hand side)
TB to MAF Rubber Connector with clamps
90mm MAF
Intake Gasket Set
In-Tank Fuel Pump
Upper Radiator Hose
Upper Two Intercooler Hoses
Original Equipment Installation Bolts
Drive Pulley with Belt (Boost level of your choice)
Bracket with idlers and special bolts (need extra bolts, but they're stock bolts, however you need the spacer for the inside driver side stud)
Tensioner Assembly
Lightning Alternator (outright, no core return)
Alternator Stabilizer Bracket
Intercooler Pump with Bracket and Pigtail
Intercooler Reservoir with Cap
IC heat Exchanger, surround and bumper brackets
IAC Tube
Throttle Cable
Throttle Cable Bracket
Cruise Control Cable (I think you can reuse original)
IAT Sensor (fits in air cleaner, add L/HD air cleaner box as well)
Water Pump Spacer or L/HD fan
L/HD Fan Stroud or modify original
Upper Radiator Hose
Heater hose from L/HD (replaces the original one that goes to the front of the motor)
PCV Tube (left hand side)
TB to MAF Rubber Connector with clamps
90mm MAF
42lb injectors
Intake Gasket Set
In-Tank Fuel Pump (single 255lph fine for most)
Upper Two Intercooler Hoses (need all 4 IC hoses)
Original Equipment Installation Bolts
Lower Drive Pulley with Belt (Boost level of your choice)
This list assumes you got a complete assembly as pictured above, from intake up through throttle body. I'm not sure of all the vacuum/PVC hoses since my blower came with them nor do I claim that this is a complete list.
You do not need L/HD engine wiring harness or ECM, if you do use L/HD engine harness and NA ECM it will plug right in. With NA ECM you will need a new tune and you will have to tell tuner which IAT to run. NA only had one, L/HD add a second in the intercooler. NA harness can be modified to connect to sensors which are in different positions, I think only one.
