Question Blow off Valve

Correct me if im wrong, but blow off valves only go with turbos right? A friend told me that his buddy has a 5.0 L mustang cobra with a supercharger and it also has a blow off valve. This cant be can it?

Yes it can be. It is just protecting the supercharger and poss the throttle body butterfly. Think of it this way motor is spinning lets say 5500 rpm, you let off the gas pedal and buterfly shuts with boost pushing in, it has to go somewhere. Surging the blower is not good. You dont want to damage the impeller or the bearings and have a faliure and have all the guts of the blower to go in the motor.
Just a safety device really.
