Either their website is not updated or they don't make a valve body for our trucks. I believe the one Troyer sells may be made by BC Automotive. They list one that is the same price as Troyer's.

But don't think your tranny will live forever with that Whipple...lol
The valve body will help a lot though.

I couldn't get a race built 4R70 to last more then a year and after eating 2 of them up I put a 4R100 in.

What is that link you put on for? It doesnt seem to be for the FTVB. Do they even make a FTVB for the 06 FX4? I'm not sure what tranny comes stock with my truck but I see the FTVB are for lightnings and harleys. If not, what are the other options to help with the tranny?

Here is Troyers that Windsor is talking about, it looks interesting. Is it worth it? Any opinions?

Why would we have to return the factory valve body? Also, would you recomend getting this first or their E-fan first?

I would call Factory-teach and ask if they have one for your truck!
F/T is 98 bucks and the other link is 300!!!!!

Depends on when your putting on the Whipple.
Get the valve body before the blower!
Get the fan whenever you want,,,it's only gonna help with HP a little. The valve body might save you 3K

Yeah but the factory tech one looks like its just a separator plate where as the Troyer one is a valve body. Although I'm not really sure what the difference is.

I hope some will correct me if I'm wrong but it looks to me like it is just installed for you and a separator plat kit you install it yourself in your valve body.
There's plenty of guys on here that just put the plate kit in themselves.

Stoffer knows all about them and has installed one in his truck.
Ask him. https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...arajerame.html

Thanks for the help. I'll hit him up. What you are saying makes sense though considering Troyer wants your factory valve body 30days after you get theirs. If this is true Ide rather save the money and do the install myself. I hope its not too hard.

I've got Troyer's valve body. I also have the separator plate, which I didn't install. There's more to the valve body than the separator plate. I have no issues with the valve body and would do it again.

Good info, I'm still considering them both, just trying to get more info. What differences did you notice with Troyers valve body compared to stock? How was the install?

Does the valve body need to be on before the Whipple? I was planning on doing them at the same time. Also with the E-fan I was just looking at it for an increase in MPG and maybe help cool the truck during summer (better then stock at least). Dont think I will need more power once whipple is on.

I just had tranny problem, but it was caused by a broken snap ring from the od servo lodging in the VB. At this point, that appears to be the failure, and I hope that my new BC Automotive valve body will be the fix. There does not appear to be any "power" related problems, since the trans seems to be stout, clean with no other issues, but acting weird due to a damaged valve body.
But remember, a lot depends on your driving style and maintenance. A performance valve body from Darrin at BC Automotive is definately a plus.
I'm quoting myself here. I installed the BC Automotive VB to replace my FTVB that was ruined by the snap ring piece or my incompetent rebuild. The BC Automotive is an easy replacement, requires not drilling, etc. It is more than just a modified plate.

After installing, my transmission is better than new with 110K miles on it and 500 crank HP through it.

I don't know if Mike Troyers unit is a BC Automotive unit, but I spoke to him several years ago and he said that he no longer recommended the Factory Tech unit. Factory Tech no longer supplies the full valve body...only the separator plate. The beauty of the full valve body is that you can keep the stock unit, pay the core and be able to restore your trans to stock if the need arises.

The BC unit is made by Darrin Burch who is a regular fixture on the transmission forum. I spoke to him a number of times and he is a straight up and helpful resource.

My money would go with Darrin.

Do you have a link for his site? Also, I dont know about BC but with Troyer they want you to ship them your factory valve body within 30 days, otherwise you get billed another $100. Whats the cost of the BC valve body?

BC Automotive

Price is the same (for the 01 4r70W anyway). Yes there is a core charge. The unit is custom made for you based on specs you supply to Darrin by phone. Shipping is quick and the service is great.
