Track Day. Good and Bad news.

So it was a beautiful day today. I decided to go to the track. It was about 97 degrees out. Showed up, said hello to some people, threw some bags of ice on the intercooler, and waited for the staging lanes to open.

1st Run. I decided to just ease into this one. See how the truck would do without staging it. Smooth rolling start.

R/T ... .436
60' ... 2.257
330 ... 5.912
1/8 ... 8.926
MPH ... 81.37
1000... 11.517
1/4 ... 13.695
MPH ... 103.73

2nd Run.

I decided to launch at 3000 RPM. Bad idea.
"WTF!!!!! Why does it sound like a gigantic lawn mower just ran over a tree stump under my truck"

Here's a pic of my truck once I had it towed home. Notice anything wierd?

My truck totally owned its driveshaft. Check it out.

Soooo....excellent track surface + hot day + sticky tires + 3200 stall on a built tranny and 600 crank hp = a twisty straw for a drive shaft. But hey, I had a 13 second f150 for about 30 minutes. I'm happy.

I recall breaking my truck the 2ed run after the supercharger looks like you need to look in to this place www.thrashdriveshaft.com the shaft they made me is good up to 1000hp you should run faster than 13.6 with some sticky tires

Thanks for the link. Like I said though, I didn't launch on the first pass. Just waited for green and hit the gas. I don't hit boost untill 2500 rpms, hence the reason I installed my 3200 stall so I could launch in boost.

I'd still have a drivable truck if I DIDN"T have sticky tires.

Hey what did you use for sticky tires? You'd have a 12 second truck with a 1.9 60' or so. I cant get much better then a 2.25 - 2.3 60 currently.

I have kumos on my 22's. They are good radials, but nothing like a set of mickeys. It was just the fact that it was so damn hot today and the track was freshly prepped. When I got out of the truck after my driveshaft beetched out, my shoes where sticking to the asphalt. Felt like I was on fly paper.

Sorry about your drive shaft. Those numbers are very impressive. With just a 2.2 you ran a 13.6 with big mph. Obviously you have a lot of hp running 103 mph with no launch.

Thanks guys. When I was in the staging lanes there was a 03-04 mach 1 next to me. He waited for me to go first. Said he didn't wan't to run a "Dumb red neck in his dumb truck. Why do they even bring them out here? Running trucks at the track is stupid. They waste everyone's time out here."

He ran a 14.1
I was wondering why he wasn't wearing a helmet. (At Silverdollar raceway you have to wear a full face helmet if you run faster than a 13.99. Kind of a hint at who is fast and who isn't.)

I like to keep it quiet. You won't know its there until too late. I'm contemplating taking the "turbocharged" emblems off. I don't like spoiling surprises.

I would take the side emblems off and leave just one on the tailgate so when they are behind they now know why!!!!
