i remember hearing someone say, "it takes hp to run a s/c, but almost nothing to run a turbo..."

it might have been you, but i cant remember. why is this so?? how can v6 stangs do so well off s/c then??

v6 stang with the same psi on a supercharger should make more on a turbocharger.

this is because a belt has to drive the supercharger which takes some power to do that.

a turbocharger is considered free hp because it uses ur exhaust which has to leave the vehicle anyway, so why not route it through a turbocharger and let it spool it up?

From Wikipedia:
A supercharger inevitably requires some energy to be bled from the engine to drive the supercharger....On the other hand, a turbocharger is driven using the exhaust gases.
so with exhaust gases theres nothing extra that the motor has to do to push exhaust out.

so essentially, for a supercharger, you lose hp to gain hp. thats gay IMO. why not just make a SVT w/ a turbo. it would be more power then.

ive always kinda wondered exactly how they run. i had a basic idea on how them and turbos worked, but was never sure. thank for the clarification!

because turbocharging isnt exactly all that easy you have to have a lot of pipe and superchargers are just freakin awesome.

boost to boost a turbo will make more power, BUT you cant diss a supercharger. I have no complaints with mine

300 rwhp running 10 psi! Id want forged internals, the stock block should be fine. Thats just me!

TJ: Do you have any plans on regearing! Im so lost in buying my parts, SC is kickin my butt! Im still not sure how to piece this SC together. I have 255 fuel pump, gages, 42# injectors.

My problem is which centrifugal SC to run? STS? Im not in too deep not to beable to go the other way but ive got to get this done... I have parts sitting in my room now...
