I know how stressful it can be. I have done my share of building of cars and when you take the next step, you just never know.

k i learned something new.

it was only making 2 psi because of whatever reason yesterday while we had it in the parking lot., the transmission was also locked in 3rd gear... all i really know is that once they put it on the dyno it started making 10-12 boost...

so there going to try a different boost controller to get me back down to 7-8 psi or so.

now heres the other thing.. at first they thought i needed a new coil pack.. but now they say that whats happening is that the truck isnt making a hot enough spark. so they want to put an msd ignition on it.

other then that. once thats been straitened out they can finish up the tuning.

Yeah, thers is something fishy going on. I would get another opinion before you go upgrading parts. Unless of course you want the MSD ignition but like pointed out above, you may not need it.

How many pounds is the wastegate spring set to? The spring should be set to the amount of boost you want to run or slightly lower. You can increase the boost with a controller. A boost controller is not capable of lowering the initial boost the spring controls. It can only increase boost beyond the spring rate.

well,

i decided to bring it home...

its got a base tune... i stayed out of boost the whole way back

not going to go with msd ignition i dont believe there is a problem with it.

it feels pretty good right now drives fine, just very loud because its got an open downpipe..

however when i come to a light, the vacuum gauge drops back down to 19 or so and then for less than half a second it hits 21 or so then back to 19 or 20...

any idea what that could be?

i could only assume its got to do with this thing being turbo'd and only on a base tune and most likly running richer than normal.

another turbo 4.2l v6 guy said that his does the little dip thing at idle too and that it had something to do with the turbo and the iac.

and how the heck would they know if its not making a big enough spark?
