Exclamation KENNE BELL 5.4l 2V Setup!!!!

(1997 Expedition 5.4l)

Okay, so I just got this used kit off ebay and realized that some of the parts will not even work with the kb set-up. I have figured everything else out (as the kit came with no instructions) except for just a couple of things.

1. The tensioner used with the kit has a 7 rib pulley on their (I believe it should be a smooth non-rib pulley) and the spacer used between the tensioner and mounting bracket is missing. Do any of you know the part number to the original tensioner (gates or GM# I imagine)?? And, any idea on the spacer? Or the number to a larger tensioner that will eliminate the spacer?

2. the serpentine belt for it? I know I can eventually figure it out, but it would be good to know the number to narrow down my search??

I really didn't wanna chase parts around when buying a "complete" kit, but I guess it's all in the fun (or bargain)!? I currently am running a Powerdyne bd11a kit and have decided to move on to a better blower. Your help will be greatly appreciated!

Sean.

Unfortunately you will have to call Kenne Bell and they charge ALOT for any little parts because they do not like dealing with people that bought superchargers off the net. In this case they don't even make it anymore. You can call them and buy the directions for $30, thats what I did awhile ago when I almost bought one. I picked up a complete new in the crate Magnacharger instead though. Your best bet is to see if they even sell the parts for it anymore...they may not..hard telling.

Just so you know.
I made more power with the AEG kit a 5 PSI then I did with the KB kit at 8 PSI.
The AEG kit was much better. I think mostly because of the intercooler!

Really? No kidding? I sent you a PM not sure if you got it or not yet..I had some questions on that kit. my email is fiveliterdave@gmail.com if you don't mind giving me some info on the kit and what you made for gains power and time wise.

Thats the thing that made me get the '03 HD 150 setup..intercooled and room to expand. BUT then my priorities changed so I picked up the Magnacharger and listed the complete HD/L swap on eBay.

NEVER MIND GUYS, THANKS FOR YOUR TIME CHECKING THIS THREAD OUT. I just got off the phone with Kenne Bell and they seemed nice.

They seem to be fine with people as long as you know what you need, and not approach them with question marks, like no other. I knew exactly everything I needed and was quoted $72.00 (for complete tensioner w/ spacer and a new vent). I think that's real reasonable?? Now off to K.B. (since they're local) and on my way to 2win screw boosting!!

I will be putting up my Powerdyne for sale soon, so if anyone's interested, let me know

It depends on who you talk to I guess. I used to talk to Jim but he is a busy man.

Thats not a bad price. You might want to look into W/A injection though especially in Cali...they get HOT even with the bypass. I used a 1.5 and a 2.2 on 5.0 Stangs before..actually I did all the work for the guy and drove it at the track. I still have one of the best times ever with a 1.5L KB in a Stang.

AS with kb, I'm going to head over there and talk to them in person along with buy what I need. yeah, I was amazed at the pricing too.

I had a BD-11A on one of my Stangs and it brought it from a 13.80@100 to a 12.77@111 with 7lbs of boost. Alot of people have issues with belts but I never did.

My cousin might want it if it is in nice shape and everything, he has a '03 FX4 F150

Did the kit come with 36# fuel injectors and Boost-A-Pump. I use the injectors, but replaced the Boost-A-Pump with and upgraded 190 Walbro Fuel Pump from Mike Troyer. He created an awesome 4-positon Superchip tune for my truck too; he knows KBs for our trucks.

I've got almost 100K trouble-free miles on it now and still going strong. I also put a water/alcohol injection system in it too to cool the air temp charge (homemade). I moved the intake air temp sensor to the KB manifold, next to the boost pressure fitting on the drivers side. I've also added the 90mm Lightning MAF and installed a BBK 75mm throttle body.

Did you install a transmission shift kit? I did to protect the 4R70W transmission; Mike Troyer tuned for that too. The transmission still work great - no problems so far.

I've run this at the track as high as 14 PSI on stock internals a few years back, but returned it back to 10 PSI boost - it really is a kick to blow the doors off Mustangs, Vettes, Camaros, and of course the ricers.

Have fun with your kit and let me know if you have any questions. I spoke to the guys at KB and they were great!

Bruce,

So how did the kit work when you ran the 6lb. pulley?? I don't plan on a water/meth kit so I believe that's the safest boost level?

also, I didn't get the injectors with a boost a pump, my kit's actually the earlier setup with an fmu. I don't wish to install it that way though. I plan on going with the bigger injectors, maf, and fuel pump. I may be contacted Troyer for the tune, but I'm a little hesitant on a non-dyno chip tune???

What do you think about KB talking down bigger pumps, because they cause heat and a lower octane??
