That's because K B sells boost-a-pumps not fuel pumps,.

also, I didn't get the injectors with a boost a pump, my kit's actually the earlier setup with an fmu. I don't wish to install it that way though. I plan on going with the bigger injectors, maf, and fuel pump. I may be contacted Troyer for the tune, but I'm a little hesitant on a non-dyno chip tune???

There is alot of debate on the fuel pump issue but it is true that a larger pump will heat the fuel more but I don't think to the extent of causing serious issues. I've always ran 255lph intake pumps. There nothing wrong with the Boost-A-Pumps as alot of guys use them and are happy with them since they are designed to provide added fuel when it is needed by increasing the voltage to the stock pump therefore increasing it's output. Jim Bell is a very smart guy and knows alot. I've been on the phone for over an hour on more than one occasion. If you are running 6lbs of boost and have low miles on your truck I don't see any reason you can't get away with the BAP. As far as the FMU, I've ran them on Mustangs with zero issues for years but for maximum performance you are better off with larger injectors and a tune for sure. This is what I would do...

Buy this combo of 42lbers and 90mm MAF....proven setup and easy to tune.

Toss some NGK TR6 plugs in it....

Then get a tune from Troyer or anyone else you prefer..get it on the dyno to read your A/F and go from there.

Run the BEST gas possible with the KB and don't mess with cheap octane boosters as they usually foul plugs. Torco is the only additive I've actually heard anything good about.

I think there is more of an issue of HOT air than HOT fuel that is the issue with a non-intercooled KB...lol.

My friend had one of the 1st KB 1.5L kits on his '91 GT and talk about get HOT. You could easily fry some eggs and sausage on the hood of his car after driving around for awhile. It did good though..11.75@119 with that old girl...11lbs of boost.

Go with the 42lb injectors with the 90mm MAF - great combo. My kit came with 36# injectors which is plenty. Like I said earlier, Mike Troyer can do a good job tuning your truck , but if you can find someone close and can dyno it, do that. I have the AutoTAP OBDII scan software on a laptop and logged my IAT sensor and the max temp in Summer was about 150 degrees with 14 PSI boost. Yes it gets warm, but the W/A injection system helps keep the charge temps down. Mike tunes for the IAT; the Superchip pulls timing if the temps get above certain levels; I thinks it's 2 degrees for every 50 degrees in temp. I don't get any detonation with his tunes. I've driven this truck extremely hard over the years and it still can perform! I love the on-the-line power this thing has.

Yeah, I think the 42lb. injectors with the 90 maf will be the way I'm gonna go. Do any of you have the motorcraft part number for the 42's??

My greatest concern is reliability with the set-up. I tow for long distances so I'm not trying to build an all out racer and sacrifice reliability. Do any of you guys know of a good tuner around Southern CA?

And yes Bruce, I do plan on installing the IAT right by the lower intake plenum, where the blower bolts up to the intake manifold. OH and have any of you thought about removing the egr to lower the intake temps. while cruising?? Not sure if you can with the obd2 system, but just a thought.

No, the cheapest way is to get the the Ford Racing ones. Even if you get them at cost through a dealer it will be more. I get all my Ford parts at just over dealer cost.

More than likely the weak area will end to be the tranny, not the engine.

I got a Factory Tech seperator kit for my 4R70W and have yet to install it but they are suppose to work great. I'm not sure what tranny you have, if you have a 4R100 you can get a whole valve body I think.

Contact Mike (madferraristi)...he will setup you up with what else you need and probably can tell you a good tuner since he is in Cali as well! He has the injectors and stuff right in stock...fuel pumps...etc..etc.

Cool I will! And the transmission is an e4od in my truck with a transgo shift kit, Derale 10 quart pan w/ cooling fins (I think 10?), along with an external trans. cooler. It's been good so far, but I really need to upgrade the external cooler!
