well apparently i fried a piston or two in my f..ing 05 5.4 3v new truck with 26k on it.yea it sucks but what can you expect when you start messing with the motor and its not tuned right.does anyone know know where i can buy a bullet proof short block with all forged components and balanced and blueprinted for a supercharged application.

i have a vortech @12psi,water to methanol injected,cams,e-fans, and full exhaust.
yea i tried calling vortech but their support is **** maybe i need to speak to a specific person but its to late now. So im looking for a highly built short block thats reliable and i need some one to tune it for everything its got.I just really want to make a truck thats not ment to go fast to go fast,like a big sleeper i think that would be cool.does anyone know how much boost(centri) i can safely run with a built engine.

Break out the cheque book son, and visit the boys here in Ontario, Canada at www.seanhylandmotorsport.com and they'll hook you up from soup to nuts. They even have a aluminum block etc. Give them a call, or even the guys in N.J at www.teamjdm.com and they should do the same. Another good source is www.livernoismotorsports.com here in the Detroit area. 12 psi seems a touch high for a truck with a stock bottom end. Visit these sites and 12 psi will seem like it's for babies.
www.vtengines.com and www.boss330.com both make awesome modular engines. Shop around and get quotes but a basic built shortblock will suit you. Manley 4340 rods, CP or JE slugs, and a fresh factory block and crank will easily support 800 hp. 12 psi wasn't the cause of his engine going out, lack of tuning was. A 5.4 can live quite happily at 12 psi with a safe tune.

Damn sorry to hear.I think this is the first blown f150 w/ a cent I seen posted here.
As far as how much boost on your new built block,that depends on what comp/ratio you run.A lower c/r will let you run more boost,but will lose some low end power.Another thing if you run 14+ psi,you will likely need a larger bypass circuit to handle the extra air so you dont surge the blower.Also if the vortech has an 8 rib setup(im not familiar w/ them),then your covered there as far as greater load capacity of the belt.
Im still waiting for my engine to go and when it does,Im going to stick w/ the 9:1 stock c/r just w/ forged parts and better springs.And run 15-16 tops.I been at 12psi for 4.5 years and 9 psi for 6months before that,which has been perfect for this 4 door brick

Stay away from SHM!!! I would suggest calling up the Lightning vendors. I'm sure they can set you up. If it were me, and I wasn't building an all out rocket but more of a reliable street fighter. I'd find a local reputible shop to do the motor and the tuning. Greater piece of mind if you can see it done and drive up there if you have issues....
Your still going to blow the new engine without a tune..
Depnding if your cylinder walls are scared up from the pistons that fried, I would just buy some forged pistons and some better rods and go about your way.

well called all those places thanks for all the help.jdm seems to have a pretty solid short block at a reasonable price 3995.has anyone else had or heard any good/bad expieriences with them.thanks.oh and is it beter to tune on a mustang dyno because they can put load on the truck while its on the dyno

A dyno is a tuning tool first and foremost. Load cell dyno's (Mustang, Dyno Dynamics, etc) offer the ability to tune any RPM range from 0% - 100% load. Inertial dynos can only offer sweep tuning (tuning during WOT runs) which, depending on the tuner/operator, can yield fine results. Sweep tuning comes into play no matter which style of dyno is used.

I'd get some good rods/pistons and find a reputable local shop to put it together, use the extra money for head porting or something you'll actually see value from. If you want a complete shortblock I'd contact Modular Performance, looks like they have considerably better prices than 4k....
