Wow...good question. My first reaction would have been to assume it is unleaded, but googling the matter left me uncertain. Apparently many older aircraft still in use call for leaded fuel. However most newer, non-turbine, ones use unleaded. The various articles I read lead me to believe both variants would be available at almost any airport; however if I understood correctly, the leaded version would be a higher octane rating than the unleaded. I have a buddy that is a pilot, so I will ask him next time I see him. That may be sometime next week.

Good call, I never saw that one coming,
Mike

I wouldn't reccommend using Aviation fuel as it will cause issues with your O2 sensors and catalysts. Alot of the high HP corvette guys swear by the Torco and/or Meth injection. These are cars pushing over 600-700rwhp. If you want to mix, get a drum of VP Motorsports 109. It's the highest Octane unleaded that I know of. 109 RON (105 R+M/2).

If Torco can do that as you said, it must have 170 octane at least.
Is this possible ??? 170

The torco that everyone has been referring to in this thread,is the torco unleaded accelerator concentrate, not torco race fuel itself .A case of 6 from Mad would cost 12.70 per 32oz can.Use 1 can per fillup and your good to go.Its also sold in 5 gallon canisters

Nope. I just follow the instructions:

Adding a 32oz can to 20 gal of 93 yields 97 min.
" " " " " 10 gal of 93 yields 104 minimum
" " " " " 5 gal of 93 " 107 min.

People swear by it,and Im one of them.Tho I only use it w/ my race tune.

By your math :

If 32oz added to 20 gallons yelds 97 octane min, then
1 gallon added to 20 gallons yelds 109 octane

In order to do that Torco is supposed to have "430 octanes" and here is the math:

Its volume of each different octane type multiplied together and divided by the total volume.

20 gallons of 93 octane = 20x93 = 1860.
1 gallon of Torco = "430"

1860 + 430 = 2290

2290 / 21= 109(total volume in gallons)

Octane rating of 109.

430 octane=:o :o :o :o no way !

I won't email Torco and waste my time because i am not stupid enough to believe their math or whatever they say.
If their instructions says that 32oz can raise a 93 octane to 97, that is a big lack of respect with all consumers.

It's because Torco is a concentrated additive, not a direct dilution of one octane of fuel to another.

I had a problem with NOS octane booster corroding my plugs, can I expect the same with Torco?

Some folks may be reluctant to try a homebrew in their expensive trucks...myself included.
