There should be a rubber line running behind your battery, check behind and to the right of the battery (I think it's behind the starter solenoid?), there should be a T there with one end capped off. Remove the cap and tie in your line onto that T.

Are you sure it's reading boost and not vacuum? (Don't mean to offend, but I couldn't think of anything else.) Otherwise, there's no way you should be seeing 19lbs of boost, possibly broken gauge?

It will run in vacuum until the boost comes on, usually around 3000 rpm with a centri, and max boost at redline. Mine shows vacuum on the left side of the zero, and the boost on the right side of the zero.

You can T off of the larger vac line at the pass side rear of the intake elbow. There should be a large and small vac line there coming out of a preformed elbow......tap into the larger one. It sounds like the way you have it now should work though. It may be a matter of less boost showing than you think you should have.
