10PSI Whipple Dyno Chart

Hey all, I haven't been around in a while, but I finally got a chance to upload a dyno chart from our test runs with the Whipple upgrade. I couldn't be happier with the results. These dyno runs were done starting in the low 90's, and by the time this was run, we were up to 98 degrees. I'd love to get this thing back on the dyno at 65-70 and see what she pumps out. It is difficult to see the numbers, but 427 RWHP and 466 Ft/lbs of torque was one run, 426 RWHP and 474 Ft/lbs of torque was the other run.

Now, I know what blower will be going into my 2004 next spring. By the way, Troyer was telling my about 42 lb injectors from Delphi last week. Also aren't the HT0 plugs hotter than the HT1 and HT2s? Any thoughts ?

I'm not sure about the plugs. I went through the Autolites within a few weeks though, but I hammered on them pretty hard with a long haul back to Alaska. I also had to use octane booster in Northern Canada as premium fuel was scarce. I've got some Ford Racing plugs on order and plan to try those next.

Whipple had to machine down the 39lb injectors for correct fitment. The 39lb is enough for running 10psi, as is the stock fuel pump, but it would be nice to have an option out there that is manufactured to fit the F-150's rather than have to customize them.

LT, what happened to plugs?? I was just going to get some! Has anyone found the Denzo's for our trucks? I have my 39's altered and ready for the dyno...but same old story...no time

BTW: You might want to pull the TB and check for oil in the S/C intake.

I had to use a lot of octane booster on our drive up to Alaska. It was pretty inevitible that it was going to happen being the last 800-1000 miles of the trip we were using it on pretty much every fill up. We ran diagnostics on the truck at the dealership back in Alaska, and it looked at first like it was a bad injector causing a miss at 2500 RPM's and up, but it ended up being the plugs. I am giving Ford Racing plugs a go this time around, hopefully my wife can get the truck in to have them installed before I get home on Monday. It would be nice to have it done and out of the way so I don't have to mess with it.

As for taking the throttle body off, I might just do that. I've been working on our house, and the dust has been pretty heavy, so I plan to pull the air filter out and give that a washing too. Should I just swab up the oil if there is some in the intake? If I find some in there, does this mean something is wrong?

I'm also battling a fuel issue. In Alaska, 90 octane is premium. Since we've been babying the truck with the bad plugs since we got home, we haven't had a chance to see if it is knocking or pinging at higher RPM's, but if it does, I will either have to get the tune reworked or find some racing gas and mix it with the 90 octane pump gas to get a 91-93 octane mix.

I believe the Ford Racing plugs are just the Autolite HT0's. Not sure if you are running them already or not. That is the coldest plug that is made in this bastard design that is in the 3V engines. I have a buddy who works for Denso and they do not have a replacement plug and have no plans to make a replacement plug for such a unique design.

10 PSI boost on a Whipple SC. No other mods (no new heads, cam, etc) and you are putting 426 HP at the wheels? My 01 5.4 with 01 Lightning SC and custom tune I am getting 335 RWHP. Now I have 4WD but...Am I to understand that the Whipple SC is worth ~75 Hp on its on?

I hate to spend $3K+ for the Whipple and get bupkiss? But if these numbers are true...there goes the kid's education fund!

Check the Lightning forum for all the reason to go broke. I take it you are new to the L? You do realize a pulley, filter and a tune and you'll be over 400 to the wheels with way more torque than these guys??

KT, we have completely different beasts (2V vs. 3V motor). I'm not sure what the whipple upgrade on a lightning engine will get you, but they had one in Fresno that was sick. There is also a place in Vegas, Silver State Motorsports, that has a custom turbo set up for the lightnings and they are getting around the 600 RWHP range. That would probably be a less expensive route, and you can always do as brahmus suggested to squeeze a few more ponies under there.

That seems low.
I get 318 to the wheels on my 97, and that's with cr@ppy non-PI heads. I've got a Procharger running 10.5 psi. Your numbers should be way higher than mine.

Maybe Raider can chime in here, he's got an L blower on his 5.4L truck and I'm certain that he makes a lot more power than that.

I wiped mine out. Ford has a crappy PCV system, thats all. There is a catch can that can be used to stop the oil vapor from collecting in the intake. I'm going to get one for mine.
I'm going to put the 39 pound injectors in and retune...thats it. I'm not going to stress the internals any further. HEMIs are no longer an issue.
I see a lot about quarter mile times for these heavy a$$ trucks. Anybody had a supercharged F150 in a truck pull? I mean a real one pulling a weighted sled. Thats what trucks do right? We have a pulling track locally here in NE North Carolina. Bring 'em on out...I'll watch!
