Look Here for a thread with pics. Note: your sensor is probably black. It has 2 vacuum hoses and 1 electrical plug. It is mounted on the drivers side of the intake cover bracket. I paid $70 bucks from the dealer.

If my DPFE sensor goes bad, what do you think I'd feel in the truck performance?

Horribly sluggish performance in hot weather.

If your DPFE or EGR doesn't flow exhaust into your combustion chamber you may get detonation. (EGR works to keep combustion temps down).

I had to chase this problem down recently...

Your e-fans should have no trouble keeping htings cool. I've towed a 7,000-lb boat to Havasu many, many times and my e-fans work great.

In reality though it all depends on who you asked about the idling problem. i took my truck to the local shop here (speed dreams) and they told me it was due to a vaccuum leak. Which is normally the answer meaning "I don't know what the hell is going on with it" when i cleaned out my throttle body it did help, but it's still idling about 1100 rpm, if i pop the gas and rev it up, it'll go down to a normal 6-700. still trying to play with it and figure out where my problem is.

Well, just got done cleaning the TB and IAC. It was pretty dirty but I cleaned it real good. Installed new gaskets and torqued every nut and bolt to spec. So I took it out for a good, hard run to get it up to temp. and no change Tried again to find a vacume leak, the only way I know is to spray starter fluid on all the vacume lines and see if the engine revs. Still didn't find anything. I guess now I'll check with my tuner and see if he can help.

IMHO idling issues on these blown trucks is often due to the tune.
Good luck, let us know how it works out...

I just spoke to my tuner ( Sal with PSP). He says there's nothing in his tune that would have caused the high idle. He thinks it's mechanical. Maybe I'm going about this the wrong way. Sal is in NY, I'm in Phoenix. We're doing the tune via e-mail. I send him a dyno graph and he e-mails me a tune. Done 3 so far and I'm still trying to get the A/F's right

Hmmm...Sal knows what he's doing, he got my truck - which barely ran with a mail-order tune - to run great. This was on a dyno, not mail order, though.

But if he says it's not the tune...that's one guy who I would be swayed to believe. Hav eyo uasked him for his opinion?

Ya, he has no opinion. He just says he can't do it through the tune. Now I have another ?. Sal has never asked for any datalogging. How can you do a proper tune without all the info. on what's going on in the motor? It seems like Sal is taking pot-shots at my tune. 3 so far and nothing has gotten better. I'm going to look into datalogging and ask Sal why he hasn't asked for that info yet.

I am starting to wonder about these long distance digital relationships. I'm not knocking anybody. But,I am disapointed in the tune/datalog/tune/email scenario.
adt - I know this seems heat related, but just in case, pull the throttle cable out and flow WD40 through it via gravity, chit will come out....... doesn't sound brilliant, but leave no stone unturned.

Been there, done that, but thanks for the thought. I was reading another thread in the engines section, A guy there was having what seems to be the same problems that I'm having and his problem was the lower third of his rad was clogged causing the high heat when the A/C was on and driving around in traffic. Only when on the highway would the temps stay in the good range. Monday I'm taking it in for a pressure check on the rad, we'll see what happens.
