Thumbs up Procharger finally tuned in

Finally got the truck to the dyno and solved the tuning issue . At 9 psi of boost got 330 RWHP at 5200 rpm (rpm limiter) with the diablo custom tune. The dyno is a Dastek, but forgot to get the printout. My truck is a 2005 FX4 4X4, 20 inch rims, procharger, everything else stock. Will be posting pics very soon. Thanks a lot for your help in figuring out the tuning issues.

Sounds like fun! Is that intercooled? What is your torque at? I would have expected higher out of 9psi though, I have 6psi non intercooled and make 345/365 with an FX4 also.

Smile Reliability

My procharger is intercooled with a 2 core intercooler. During the tuning we found that power was still building when it hit the rev limiter at 5200 rpm . For durability issues I didn´t want to up the limiter (this is a daily driven truck). I guess we could be in the neighborhood of 340 RWHP at 5600 rpm.
This truck is a lot of fun to drive now¡¡¡¡¡¡

Should I upgrade the tranny with a new valve body?? who has some recommendations??

Thanks.

Flavio,
Impressive numbers. Im sure you now know what its like to feel a supercharger. Its amazing what they do to a car. Enjoy.

Shouldn't have too many problems with the tranny. Unless you are jumping up and down on the accelerator. Have fun...

What were the torque numbers though....I would like to know that. 9 psi is a LOT to make only what I am making with 6psi and with no intercooler, that's what I meant. If your torque numbers are pretty high then all is well, but pushing 9psi in this engine and not making at least 400hp is kind of odd, unless your timing is pulled WAYY back.

Well, my numbers are not impressive, they are more like average. I have stock spark advance. 100 hp increments is a common number for stock arrangements like mine (stock exhaust, no E-fans, no nothing). Next step is the exhaust and we´ll see how it develops.

Will keep you posted.

The exhaust should help produce better numbers. The stock exhaust is too restrictive in my opinion and from some results that I have seen.

Flavio,

When you open up the exaust you will lower your torque numbers. You will see a increase in the HP but your power band will be moved higher in the RPM band. I had a 99 5.4L with the procharger and ran 348 rwhp with the 9# pulley and fuel mods. I would think the larger injectors/MAF or E-fans would gain you the greatest improvement. The E-fans will release about 12 HP and cool better than the mechanical fan. Mike Dunn has the kit for this. It is straight forward install.
