Is Is Truetrac The Best Option To Lower 0-60mph And 1/4 Mile Times Because Of Spining

Hi guys, after the Whipple install i am clocking:
0-60mph=5.7s
1/4 mile =13.9s
The problem is traction in first gear, a lot of spining in one wheel only. I am sure i can lower those times around 1/2 second if i install a differential to spin both wheels at the same time. I am looking for something that can give me all traction i need but also keep the same drive ability that i have now with the stock LS differential, i want to avoid problems with snow and wet roads.
The other question is, can i do the differencial swap on the rear differential only as i have a 4x4 truck ?? I heard a lot of good things about the Detroit Truetrac. Any comment will be truly appreciated thanks for your time .

if you have a limited slip stock thats good enough. i have lord knows how many launches on my stock limited slip in my 97 and it is as good now as the day i got it. you are only spinning one tire? then you dont have limited slip. you have an open rear.

just put it in 4 hi and go.

I have less tire but mine pulld both...all through first and into second gear
I wonder if they got the LS back in correctly after your gear change? Maybe the Whipple is just overpowering the LS? Good times for a FWD though

I will leave some rubber on the ground tomorrow and look for the marks, maybe it's just an wrong impression when inside the cabin but you pointed something that makes sense dude, "maybe the Whipple is overpowering the LS", good post man.

Like the man said, 4HI will stop the spin and lowere the times but its hard on the tranny. Should be one hell of a launch though

Take a look on the times on the first post, that way you can have an idea about the truck performance.

oh quit being a vag and launch it in 4 hi. i've had friends run theirs at the strip many many times in 4 hi with no problems. it probably isnt the best for the tranny but neither is putting on a blower. it just comes with the territory.

rafa, good to hear you are out and around with the truck. I got your e-mail on the shocks mishap, sorry to hear that. Is everything fixed now, are you back to stock ride height? How ya liking the whipple so far, is it what you expected?

I finally got home today, and opened up the supercharger box. Unfortunately Fed Ex damaged the kit, breaking off the ends of the two screws on the side of the supercharger where the CAI intake is. They are the two 3/4" or so silver screws on the side of the charger and the fittings on the end were broken off and loose in the box. Also, that same side of the box had the reservoir tank for the antifreezer to the intercooler. The flat white plastic tab on the bottom was broken in half, and floating around in the box as well. Install won't be able to happen without getting those parts replaced, but I called the company where I bought the supercharger from and they jumped right on it. They might send a full new kit, but I told them everything else looks good, so maybe they could just overnight the reservoir tank and two screws/fittings instead. I should know tomorrow and will hopefully be in line for a Tuesday install like scheduled. Sounds like I will be one of the first to get some dyno numbers on this thing as long as things go straight. Should be done by Thursday night if the PCM shipping goes right.

Can't wait! All that closer to getting it installed! My hats off so far to lethal performance and to whipple for how they are handling the damage. Apparantly Fed Ex has dropped a couple of these kits so far, mine being one of them.

Hey rafa, forgot to mention, I'll also be installing full chrome Mark LT emblems for the front fenders. I didn't know if you knew they were available or not, but they look sweet. I got mine in around the same time as the supercharger. Let me know if you want the info on where to buy them, there is a guy on ebay selling them.

My truck will be done today, right now it's in the suspension shop. I will give a last shot on the air suspension kit. Me and the mechanic both agree if we fabricate and install stronger plates (the parts that broke), we won't have bad surprises again.
Talking about the Whipple, i am sure that no other S/C could give the same amount of hp and torque than the Whipple, the burn outs are a lot stronger than the ones with Roush, Powerdyne, Procharger etc... The wheels spins REALLY fast and don't give us the impression that we are watching a video in "SLOW MOTION" as we can see in some videos from S/C trucks here.
The tune was a BIG DECEPTION, comes from Ford than you can imagine all hey do to hold power. Some examples are, maximum RPM is only 5000,truck cuts fuel delivery at 125mph,also the truck seems to run lean at high rpms etc...It's not a good performance tune period.
I really regretted not installing 48lph fuel injectors, i think that you now that Vortech includes 48lph injectors on their kits, and Troyer said that the Intercooled Roush version will use 40s.
The S/C is the best one in the market FOR SURE but the tune blocks a lot of available power. I am very happy with the times :
0-60mph=5.7s
1/4 mile =13.9s
but i want to fix some traction issues, there is a lot of wheel spin and remenber that i use huge 24'rims and tires that weights a ton, i can imagine what's gonna happen in trucks with the thin stock wheels.
I will drive 5 hours next month just to take my truck to be tuned by Mike Troyer in his new shop and i will inaugurate his brand new dyno, can you imagine what that guy will be able to do having my truck on his hands and on A Dyno ???? I am almost sure that we are going to be able to reach around 450rwhp but with only 8psi. That is like a TURBO performance, more HP with less pressure compared with superchargers.
After i get the truck this afternoon, i will take it to a car wash and take some pictures of the install and the new hood.
Let me know if you need any further information.
