Finally on the Dyno.

Well it's been a couple of months since I've put the Procharger on my 01 Scab, 5.4 4x4. I took it to the dyno today and got some good and bad news. The bad news is I'm running really lean, averaging around 16, the good news is I made 280 rwhp & 353 rwtq. running at 9# boost. So far I'm not getting any detonation or anything like that, truck runs pretty smooth. So I need to get new injectors and MAF. What size should I get since I'm not trying to make a race truck?

I would get the 42# injectors and 90mm MAF and then get a good tune for that setup...and run it on the dyno again...I had 345rwhp&418tq with that setup

Probably has no timing, that's why there is no detonation. Give it some more fuel and add some timing, and you should see your hp in the mid 300's.

Any reason why I shouldn't go with the 30# injectors?

You could go with the 30's but you would still need the FMU. With the 42's and 90 you loose the FMU. This is the combo we have been running for years. Call MAD he can hook you up

Lean is Bad - Okay

Seems like 42# & 90 MM are what everyone with SC's are using - I don't know why......
I think the PCM will dial in the fuel from the injectors as needed, and more air flow is always better if the air/fuel ratios are good.

What are you using for tuning?

No tuning as of this moment, Crash wanted me to hold off for a while but it looks like the time is now for a tune. I think I'll go with the 42's and the 90mm MAF.

I was in the same boat. I had about the same hp and tq #s (285/360). My A/F #s were in the high 13s/low 14s. I'm running a 9lb procharger with the 3 core. I have the crappy non-PI heads though. ('97)
I just installed 42# injectors and 90mm MAF. I went with a 4 position chip from Mark. I've only put 50 miles on it since the swap (2 days ago). The truck runs great so far. I go to the Dyno tomorrow morning. I'll let you know how things turn out. I need a SAFE tune for towing my camper (~7500#). Dave C.

if you are running the ATI with the 3 core its considered a "tuner" kit...to run this setup safe you need to do the fuel/Maf upgrade...plus you will notice better performance with this mods....you also need to have a tune made for it...you can achieve great #'s at the track and on the dyno with this kit...there is nothing like the whine of a Procharger....I miss it

It looks like I'll be going with the 42# injectors and the lightning MAF so I can get rid of the FMU. I'm working with Mike Dunn and soon with Sal @ PSP to get the tune. Now it's just a matter of time and $$$.

I got the dyno results. The hp/tq didn't change much (hp -7, tq +8). Air fuel is right where Crash wants it.... Steady 11.6:1 I ran 9 pulls. 3 in street position, 3 in tow position, 3 in race position. Horsepower didn't vary more then 10, no matter what position the chip was in. I'm not sure why. I did hear some belt slippage near the end of the last few pulls. But the gauge showed 9psi. My previous post was wrong on the hp/tq #s I was a best of 270/350. Now I'm @ 263/358. I'm pleased I can now tow safely, but I'm going to try to get a little more out of it. I think the tunes need a little tweaking. Dave C.

Thanks for the update on your truck. I'm glad you're happy with the results. I'll be purchasing the injectors and MAF tomorrow from Mike Dunn but I'm still trying to find the best deal on the tune. The prices are varying from $500. to $1000. Just trying to be careful.

My 4 position chip was $350. Troyer Performance (?) is suposed to be great at tuning our trucks. If I remember right, he was $425 for a 2 program tune. I am happy mine is safe, but I feel the power is way off. I'm not happy with that. Not for the total investment. It's nowhere near the 60% improvement advertised! I'm experienced with turbos. I wish I'd gone that route. I love having 8# of boost at low RPMs. I also HATE the whine of the blower (without having the power to back it up). Dave C.

I was quoted by modular powerhouse, an authority on our motors, $550 for the dyno time, the chip, and the custom tune. I elected to order a diablosport Delta Chip from dugan racing instead. It works wonders, and was only $369 custom burned. That is only 1 program, but you can get up to 4 with a switch and a starter kill type program as well for security
