Update on Lightning swap

Well since no one has been doing much i've decided to spend a little money and give us something to talk about!!
First i remove the intake box from my Volant intake and voila extra Psi atleast a pound maybe more as i didn't beat on it and check it out yet. my next step will be to put it back on and see if the boost goes down. I also ordered an Xcalibrator from Sal at PSP as this Apten chip is giving me the runaround!!! My shift points are screwy, I am running rich overall, and sometimes i run pig rich until i kill the truck and turn it back on So we'll put her back on the dyno and see what happens!!

You will LOVE that X-calibrator. I got one for my turbo truck and love what it allows me to do. You can set your shift points to whatever you want them and can adjust torque converter lock and unlock schedules, among other things.

Its pretty neat to be able to adjust some stuff yourself, instead of having to mail a chip back and have it reprogramed every time you want to change some small something.

The turbo is a work in progress, and I think it will ALWAYS be, lol.

Some pics here:

A thread with some details and stuff here:

It looks a little different now that what the pics show. I have made a few changes like new intercooler piping and some other stuff. I'll have some updated pics when I get some welds ground and stuff painted so it looks purdy.

I want to see you upgrade to a turbo!! Supercharger ROCK, but turbocharger RULE

Nice, first i want to acquire a 4r100, tcase, cross member, harness and have that racebuilt. Then i'll splurge for a built 2V, or even a 4v built!!!! AAhhhh... that would just be stupid!!! I gotta have more!!! i'm researching now what my limits and tradeoffs are. This would be a daily driver so pump 93 octane is one limit! i'm waiting for Crash to get back with me!!

Scratch the 4R100. Just get the new Factory Tech Moster Box 4R70. That is supposed to take more abuse than you will be able to give it.

Thats what i'm gonna get when mine goes up in smoke. But it might be a while, Mark's made it 70K+ miles with just a FTVB and he is over 400 rwhp. They can also build the tranny to fit your t-case, thats not a problem.

There is some info on the new 4R70 here:

http://www.got-pressure.com/yabbse/i...d=2395;start=0

They posted that the tranny should be good for 700+ tq on a 3500 pound car. But that was before production and it could have changed. The Factory Tech website is here:

http://www.factorytech.net

You can probably email them and get more info on what they expect the tranny to handle. I do think I read it comes with a 2 year free replacement warranty too.

Thanks Marlon, Maybe my built 4r70w will last longer than expected... if not a MB maybe worth lookin into before the turbo project, but after that looks like i'll need a 4r100!! Keep me updated if you don't mind, i'll also check in with Mike!

I'm actively work'in on it! haha! I just replaced the leafspring packs and solved a 3 year old steering wandering problem! Thanks to power demons like you, now I only need to find a flexplate and 03' F150 torque converter, then I make an order with www.madenterprise.com

FYI to others on this forum...........I believe the Lightning swap is VERY relevant to this forum. Infact, I believe the lightning swap is the best option for F150s. No other forced induction system provides so many options (soon to have monster 3.3 whipple or a turbo options!). No other forced induction system has been tested and proven at the level the lightning system has. The best mechanical engineers, tuners, and actually dragstrip racers continue to spend a lot of time and money in developing the system and options for the system. As well as, as of right now, the fastest Lightning is a 9 second 1/4 mile run with the lightning system using a twinscrew option. We as F150 owners can and should benefit from all of this proven work product. .....I know I will!!!!!!

Are you sure you have a X-calibrator. I can't change anything on the X-calibrator. All it has are two buttons and some LED's.
