1jt, i know you have had pinging problems with your vortec and 91, if i get good gas and the weather is under 90 i have no problem, so-so gas and i ping. under 80, no problem,

why did you take the chip out?

did you ever look into running an ouil cooler before the oil hit the s/c? I saw were a mustang guy drop the temp but i am sure he was running a higher boost level.

did plugs help and what kind did you go with?

sorry for all the question but you are one of the few who
1. either is honest and talks about it
2. has done more than the average person to upgrade and make it better.
how much faster is you h/d stock compared to you vortec? i bet off the line it pull it hard but from a 60mph roll it is closer.

Sure man

The shop that's been selling & installing my Chillers has some customers with Vortech equipped 150's & no I.C.'s.

So I'm thinking about building some. But not unless there's enough market for them.

They will be liquid - air. That way (if U also use my chiller) U can get really cool intake temps.

Brotherdave,

why did you take the chip out?
After having it dynod the a/f's were all over the place. Talked w/the tuner and he said that couldn't be true and offered to refund my money. I am currently waiting for the Preditor to be released.

ouil cooler, I don't know what this is. I did however install a procharger intercooler. I had serveral problems with,
1. The supplied vortech bypass would not work. Might have been correctable with a procharger bypass (it mechanical)
2. Had a 2 psi drop in boost (understandable, corrected w/ a smaller pulley
3. Surging at highway speeds(no idea why this happen).
4. Tubing that was bent by muffler shop looked like crap.

did plugs help and what kind did you go with
Plugs helped some and I used AWSF-22C's

never ran it stock but made two passes at the track. 1st time ever, 1st run I spun the tires all of 1st gear and ran a 16.1. 2nd time I eased into it and ran a 15.2. I have a G-tech like device and have had a good as a 2.1 on 60ft time and a 15.1 on the 1/4 mile. From 0-70 the truck pulls really hard after that it seems to slow down. I think my speed at the end of the 1/4 mile is something lke 86mph.

Hope I answered all your ?'s

syclondave, I 've looked into this before, it seems like it would be a good mod. But if I remember correctly it was a little pricey.

so have you ran both on the g-tech and what where the times.

the oil cooler would go in between where the oil comes out of the engine and were it goes into the s/c. one of pro chargers saling points is that the engine oil is between 210 to 250 deg hitting the s/c in the vortech (heats the charger housing) the internaly oiled procharger stays around 130 to 160, so if you could cool the housing you could cool the charge (a little) considering the cost would be under 150 plus an afternnon of work and the fact that can oil cooler could not hurt, i am thinking I am going to do it.

do you have a link to the oil cooler?

the g-tech times so far are about the same. I haven't run since I took the chip out and added electric fans.

Well I guess it depends on what u consider pricey.

What $$$ amounts did u hear on what product ?

The shop that's selling & installing my chillers is getting $1000.

I think that's alot but even so everyone that got 1 really likes it.

1 L. owner that has 1 said on a trip he took he was getting a never before obtained 20 mpg. With that maybe some day it'll pay for it self.

the pricing I saw and i can't remember the site was well over 1k. If the price stays below 1k I would be interested.

The unit I remember seeing was like a tube w/a heat exchanger around it. Also would there be any psi loss.

Thats interesting, I did not get a chip w/mine and also read somewhere that they suggested not to use a chip. I'll see if I can find were I read that. Maybe I'll call them and ask about pinging to see what they say. BTW you can email me at sc2001hd@yahoo.com
