Are these throttle bodies any good? Did you notice any difference? Worth the money? Thanks!!!

01screw,

I have one on my truck. I have a ATI so I see a better throttle response. For the 2 hundred or so bucks I wouldn't suggest it. The $ to 12 hp ratio is really bad. I would suggest fans, chip, hiflow cats are about the same price.

If you are considering the throttle body just remember that you have to port the elbow to match. Otherwise it wont do a thing for you.

Thanks guys. From what I'm reading on different sites, it don't seem like a worthwhile mod.

in a mustang mag i have they tested airflow on a 4.6 sohc mustang and the addition of the tb was around 20 cfm. they then had the elbow professionaly ported and picked up a little over 50 cfm with the stock tb and made 10 hp pretty much accross the board. the place that did it charged $156 (and a $55, refundable exchange) if it picked up 10 hp (dyno jet so thats rearwheel) then thats $156 well spent. you would have to think the gains would be bigger with a s/c.

BrotherDave,

I guess there not including the price of the TB. I think the BBK is like 250 plus the 156 bones. If he just polished the intake and gained 10 hp then that is a good deal.

gain was with the stock throttle body. you could do this at home in the garage but i doubt the results would be the same.
also the elbow was flow tested.

Brotherdave,

Check out the new Hot-rod mag. It has a bunch of mustang info as well as a boost comparison on roots, centitrifigal and turbos.

outdare, that a good article, makes you wonder why there is not a turbo kit available for the f150, the centrifigal -roots thing could be argued , but the turbo is the clear winner.
