Do you go to the track? How often?
After reading through alot of these threads I got to thinkin'. One of the big debates is Magnacharger-roots vs. ATI centrifugal. Our knowledgable tuners blow the ATI horn saying it will beat the Magna in the 1/4 mile. Just how many of you blower owners go to the track and how often? I'm not doubting that the ATI will beat my Magna, but unless your racing up to 100 mph, whats the difference? We all have to start from a dead stop, which is where the Magna shines, but how many get up to 80-100 mph where the ATI shows it's stuff. To each his own. Just wondering how many of the ATI guys go racin' and how often. I've been to the track twice in the year since I installed the blower and that was just for the fun of it with my brother and his Lightning and the MILOC guys. If you're goin' to the track for braggin' rights then the ATI might be your best choice, but if you're just messing around on the street, I still like the Magna. There must be some reason that SVT uses the Eaton and not a centrifugal. Besides, I don't think I could take that ATI whining all the time.
I use to think the same thing-ATI would only be good at the track and not perform as well on the street. That isn' the case though. There is a good thread on Got-Pressure comparing the ATI to a KB. Look in the blower forum under blower comparison.

there are alot of opions as to the best way to build power for the quarter mile. if you did a graph of how much time you spend at a certain rpm you would see that you send probably less than 25% of your time in the 1500 to 3000 rpm range and about 50 % of the time in the 3500 to 4500 range and then back to 25% in the 4500 to 5200 range so gains made it the 3500 to 4500 range would bring the best results, what the centrifical loses down low it makes up for up high. in drag racing spinning the tires is a no -no so having earth moving torque at 1800 rpm does you no good unless you are not spinning and all that power goes to the ground.
As soon as i get my transgo kit installed i plan on going to the track.
