Darn the luck...

Uh oh. Broken back window today... I c/p'd the email I sent DFW Camper today. Snugtop told me to call the dealer and see how they can help...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tony,

I spoke with you on the phone concerning the snuglid breaking the rear window glass.

When I got the truck in June of 2005 I had a snuglid put on by you guys on my brand new 2005 F150 supercrew. More than happy with the lid. I noticed after a while that the rings that keep the lid retained into the mounting frame sometimes get wedged in between the glass and the lid. In the pictures I have attached you can see marks on the rubber surround where the rings have gotten stuck between the glass and lid.

Today while my wife was driving the rear glass exploded. In the pictures I have attached you can clearly see where the retaining ring caused the rear window breakage. You can also see the marks on the rubber window surround where this has happened before but luckily no breakage occurred.

I am having the rear window replaced on Monday by my insurance company. I have to pay a $200 deductible for this. Honestly in my opinion this is a design flaw. Please let me know what can be done about this to keep me a happy Snugtop snuglid owner.

Thanks,

Me

My wife called the insurance company about it before I got home to see exactly what happened. So here's the damage...

seems like a smaller cotter pin, or 6mm bolt would do the same thing as that 1" key ring......

PS quit letting your wife drive your truck, you should know better by now.

After 7 years I wouldn't hold my breath, but good luck all the same.
I took my rings off for the same reason.

Yeah I know. Early next month she'll be in her car again so she can continue destroying that one.

All I can say is my poor truck. She's done a number on it for sure in a short time.

ARGH!!!

Replaced while I was at work and truck was home. Left a mess and scratched up and through the paint on the tonneau. Called them and gave then the lowdown and a rep is coming out Saturday. Made sure to use the term **** poor workmanship numerous times. Only good thing... May get new paint on the tonneau out of it.

Needless to say I'm a bit peeved... I'd get fired if I did an F35 like that...
