Eibach 2/4 problem and questions

I'm in the process of installing an Eibach 2/4 (actually 2/5 if you count removing the factory block) drop along with the Pro-Damper kit and front/rear Hellwig swaybars. I've run into a bit of a problem though. The bolts that secure the new shackle to the new leaf spring are too large to slide through the spring eye. I'm using the original bolts from my truck, since the kit didn't come with anything different. I mic'd the shank of my bolt at .545" and the ID of the spring eye at .522". Anyone else have this problem?

Also, did you guys take off and re-install the u-bolt locating plate from the top of the old leaf pack to the new spring pack?

Last but not least, has anyone had any vibration issues with this kit and the 1 piece aluminum driveshaft? My truck is a 2wd 2006 Lariat Supercrew. Thanks in advance!

The first thing I'd do is call Eibach about the hole diameter issue. Never heard of this issue before.

As for the plate when I had my eibach leafs I replaced the plate to the eibach leafs like you're speaking of.

DS, I don't know, I have a 2 piece.

Is the front eye in the front and the rear in the rear? Not to talk down but it is easy to overlook. The shake might be because of the pinion angle. There is a lot of degree change going on. good luck

The leafs were definitely oriented correctly and the bolts were all in the correct locations. I'll give Eibach a call when I get a chance, but I just used my bench grinder and took a little material off the shanks, then polished it up with a wire wheel. The part numbers stamped on the leafs were correct for my truck, and everything else went on fine aside from that one bolt.

I haven't noticed any vibration yet, but I've only driven around my neighborhood so far. I'll take it in for an alignment tomorrow morning then get it out on the highway and see how it feels. If it rides as good as it looks, I'll be a VERY HAPPY man!

I took it in for alignment yesterday and they couldn't get the camber and caster back into spec. Looks like I'll need to slot the LCA holes to allow for more camber adjustment....

I also gave it a good run @ 85 MPH to the airport this morning since I was running late and I think I've got a small bit of driveline vibration that wasn't there before, so I need to get the pinion angle checked when I get back in town.

It rides much firmer than before, not too bad, but I wouldn't want it any stiffer than it is. My guess is that the addition of the rear sway bar is a large contributor to this. They seem to be one of the biggest changes you can make to a trucks handling from my past experience. Pics will be up eventually, got to get home and get it clean first...

glad you got it figured out, ive had a few bolts that were tight going in, but thats usually because they werent perfectly lined up. And im not talking about just Eibach stuff.

never used the eibach stuff not a fan of theirs. i have an 07 with a 2/4 ground force kit. installed it in the front yard. took about 6 hours. went to the dealer and had it realigned and all went well. did not have to slot anything or buy anything. i have a 2 piece driveshaft so once i modified the middle carrier bearing mount per the instructions all worked out well. only problem i had with the rear sway bar was getting my exhaust reworked around it because my pipes exit out each side. make sure you dont over tighten the rear sway bar or you will get a vibration from it.

My understanding is that the SPC camber kit doesn't add allow for any more camber correction than stock, it just makes it a little easier to move the LCA's. I believe the only way to get more correction is to slot the holes so the LCA can be pushed inboard more.

I added them as a precaution. They were recommended by my alignment shop and I trust those guys. A lot. - Og
