i wouldnt go more then 2/4

i would get some L coils and cut a tiny bit off of them instead of cutting alot off of either V6 or the V8 coils

you think ill still be good with 2" drop in the front?
i just wanna level it out with the back, with my 2" shackles my rear end is still almost a full inch higher than the front.

whats the benefit of L coils over the v6 or v8 coils?
you think ill have trouble getting aligned?

I think they allow the Lightning to sit something like 1.75 lower then a standard spring. I can't remember.

You should be fine with alignments. I'm at 3" in the front and still can get alignments.

but if im cutting the springs anyway im not understanding why the L springs would be different? im sure im missing something lol
are they coiled differently?

are you dropped 3" in the front via coils?

DJM 2" springs with a little cut off.

Not sure exactly why the L springs would be beneficial to you. I'm sure they may be coiled a little different being they were designed for a performance truck. Not sure the exact difference other then height.

You need to find out which (if any) of the springs you are cutting are specific rate or progressive rate. You'll want to cut the spring that is a specific rate.

they are different spring rates.

my silver truck was 2.5" coils that sat at 3" on supercrew, and i will tell you that you cant go lower then that with coils and still get a decent alignment. i have personally done my alignment myself and it just barely squeaks into tolerance, and i wouldnt recommend taking to just anywhere. research my older threads to see the crap i went through when i had someone else do my alignment.

the springs are off a 03 supercrew with the 4.6..

i wanna get about a 2" drop from them if possible. or would i be better off cuttin my v6 springs?

will i need camber bolts (i think thats what theyre called) to get a correct alignment?
if so where can i get some?

yes you will need camber bolts, and Ford has them for something like 60 bucks, fairly competitive on the price to aftermarket bolt kits.

The more you cut off of any spring, the rougher the ride. I would cut the V6 springs before i cut the V8. But i still recommend cutting a tad off of Lightning springs if you're gonna cut anything.

What shocks you gonna run front and rear?

yeah i know the ride will be rougher...gotta pay to play.
ill probably do the rear this weekend and wait til the end of next week or so to do the front, so i may try to hunt down some L springs.

For the rear im gettin a set of ground force drop shocks (probably not the best i know) for 40 bucks shipped.
and still undecided on the front?

im holding a set of Ls that belong to derek, ask him how much he wants for them

ground force makes a good shock but i bought the upper end model too, can't speak for the 40 dollars. Remember most places sell shocks individually

the supercrew should be the same leafs as what you have, not worth changing anyway unless you can find a set of '99-'02 Lightning leafs

cutting a set of lightning coils will give you a better ride VS cutting a "regular" F-150 coils
