kinda tired of my drop kit....

hey guys, I 've kinda gotten tired of my DJM drop kit. when installing this kit i ran into a lot of frustrations and problems. I'm not a fan of the engineering of the kit as there leaves a lot to be desired. from these problems with install has stemmed a certain lack of confidence while driving the truck which flat out takes some of the fun out of driving.

I was having a slight drive train vibration and since i am away at school i went to have someone adjust the pinion angle. well to make it a short story... i paid 50 bucks... had some problems... and walked away paying 30 bucks for shims and a new u-bolt.

The design of the kit in the rear leaves alot of slack and play to where you have to try and locate the rear end under the truck. the kit doesn't locate it very well at all. because of this.... i think my truck isn't tracking straight anymore. its not like its way off but maybe an inch. just enough to bug me.

The design of the front lower control arms its very good as it allows the alignment to be thrown if you don't tack weld or pay extra for alignment bolts.

my dilemma is that I'm low on funds since I'm at school and not working... I think that if i replaced the rear DJM flip kit with something that is better engineered and that i will have a little more confidence in i will be a little happier driving the truck..

sooo..... what are your guys opinions on a new rear set up.... i would put the air ride airbar in it but that is out of my budget right now.

i realize that. i adjusted it myself when i put the kit together. i still don't care for the design. the shims that i walked away with were an idea that i had. it would have worked if i had a longer alignment pin. but never mind that mess. im still not all that happy with the kit. some of the reason is that i think its really not designed for the 2008. i had to do some modifying to the kit to make it fit. the hangers are different between the 08 and 04+.

soo... for the real question... what do you guys think would be a better engineered rear set up?

I think I'm going to go with the eibach pro-truck kit ( http://eibach.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.exe...58809100025210 ) , eibach anti roll kit ( http://eibach.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.exe...51762400025210 ) and eibach pro truck shocks ( http://eibach.com/cgi-bin/htmlos.exe...26102400025210 ) with ground force shackles. it'll be around 1400-1500USD from summitracing.

yeah... i think im probably going to go with the eibach rear system for now then possibly go to the pro truck kit up front. I didnt know that eibach had a anti roll kit. i was looking into the roush bar and the hellwig rear kit.

Go with the whole Eibach pro truck kit, don't just put the Eibach leafs with the DJM arms and stock springs up front. That won't be a good handling combo.

also, from some of the kit pictures, it looks like i have to take the front hanger out of the truck and replace it with the eibach hanger. is that true???? I know that some of those pictures are just generic pictures. so that may be the case. also, does the pinion angle come manufactured into the kit or shimmed or adjustable?

There are no front hangers with the Eibach kits for our year trucks, only springs and shackles. They come without shims.

Call Performance Peddler and speak to Brad. They will give you a better price then what is listed on their website. I've bought a lot of stuff from them in the past including my Eibach Pro Truck Kit.
