DJM 2/4 drop question

Well I just dropped my '03 SC with a DJM 2/4 kit over the past few days. Still have the pass rear to do today. Loads of fun grinding off the rear hangar and drilling out the rivets!! Question I have is where did everyone put the e brake cable bracket on the drivers side? The bracket attaches to the front spring hangar but its REAL tight with the kit. Has to be 2-3" higher than before. I took off the plastic clamp which holds the 2 together and was thinking of adding a steel support to the factory bracket but..... What did everyone else do?

Also when I did the front drop it only dropped about 1", I've heard it takes a week or 2 for things to settle. Is this true or do I need to replace my so- called 2" drop springs?

Well your factory springs were probably very settled down, so it may not seem like as much of a drop as you expected, buy your new ones will settle down too.

I can take pictures of my cable bracket. I modified stock bracket and reused it. Basically flipped it upside down so the bolt hole mount is above the cables instead of below.

give the springs time to settle, i droped the dront end of my regular cab with djm springs and it took a week or 2 of driving to get them settled. not to mention it could take longer for some people because i drive around 100 miles a day.

The pics would be great!! I'm running a 285/50/20 so I thought a 3" would have just been too much, if they don't settle in a bit I'll go with the 3" front springs this time. Got the pass rear basically done just need to torque everything down. Had some trouble with the removal of the rivets but they are gone now. The leafs gave me some trouble as well. Just the aligning after everything was in place. Just had to do some differential jacking on each side of the spring to get the proper alignment for the bolt to do back into the hole in the perch. The rear walked forward or the leafs did or something but anyway they are in. Just need to bolt the e brake stuff back on and torque the pass side down.
Should I wait for things to setle a bit before I get the front aligned? Did'nt know if the setling would affect my new alignment? Did anyone have to put the shimms in the front for caster/camber? The shop said sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. Looks straight to me but....

I can honestly say rebuilding a small block Chevy(including the pulling and reinstall was an easier job than this. Its not something I would attempt without some car knowledge.

Patman03sprcrw the pics would be great and fomoco97 do you have any pics of your truck now after the front has settled? I only drive mine 6,000 miles or so a year so it may take a bit longer for me.

two weeks should be plenty to settle, just go drive over a dozen speed bumps. not fast, but not crawling speed, give it a few good bounces to help settle it in.

ill go take some pics and get them posted up tonight

Thanks Patman03SprCrw, the pics helped out a bunch! What kit do you have in the rear? My hangares only have a single hole, so I guess your are adjustable. I got the brakes back together and it drives nice with no shimmies, although the rear is making some squeeking noises when I go over bumps. I guess thats the whole break in period? I think I'll end up changing the fronts to 3" if it doesn't settle anymore. The front now sits about 1/2" higher than the rear. Thanks again for all the help, it was greatly appreciated!!

Ive got Eibach coils and hangers.... coils are 3" and hangers are 2 or 3" adjustable.

I might be interested in trading down (or up in height) to 2" coils since im also adding on a 2" spindle

What size tire are you running up front? I have a 285/50/20, which is why I went with the 2"(I was affraid of hitting the fender). In a week or 2 if they don't settle far enough down for me, wanna trade springs?

well not to be snotty, but eibachs are worth a little bit more then the belltechs are. If you wanna cover shipping both ways ill do it

Im running 275-40-20 all corners with +8mm offset and no rubbing.

My stock tires rubbed at full lock (255-70-16)
My shorter then stock tires rubbed at full lock (255-65-16)

I'll give it a few weeks and let you know if they settle anymore, then we'll go from there.
Thanks
