you need shorter shocks or there will be alot of pressure on the stock ones. They are only designed to compress so hard and to expand so far. You can go up more than you can compress (downward). Without blocks it increases downward pressure obviously.

I have a forklift that i use at home for lifting vehicles, i lifted my tail end up and the shocks extend outward about 8 inches. So that allows it to go about 2 inches downward, likely with heavy loads. So if you see the length of how far they come out, its damn near the length of the female part of the shock, leaving the right amount of area to compress air right?...

Hello Frod. . Am interested. How's the ride? You kept the stock shocks?

Frod, i wouldn't even try to go any lower than that in the front. it'll look real good w/ some 20's. i would pull the rear blocks out to lower the back.

yeah i know, i got a forklift so it will be pretty dang easy, i just dropped a newer motor and trans so i havent gotten that far yet. Since i was down there for most of the time, i just shot my torsion bars down. Yeah im not going any lower, it sits perfact right now in the front for 20s, and it will match when i take those blocks out. I just need to find a place that has the right shocks for the back. You know of any places?

Alright, as soon as i figure out what i need for the rear, ill get it put on and post up a picture for ya guys! I am getting 20inch black 5mag cobras from a buddy, and i wanted to put them on after i got the new engine in but winters here already, i may just do it to take pictures, i dunno yet. Definitally doing it for 20s tho. Just does not look right at this height with stock 16s. What size tread you got?

Looks like, in your signature that your truck "sits" about 2 inches down when you lay on it, if you drop the blocks you might rub with those slicks...i dunno.

Have you found out what kind of "shorter" shocks you will need up front?
I need to check out the torsion bar keys on the silverados..
