Thinking about this Shelby hood vent mod, but I have a couple of concerns. Molding it in and water travel underneath. Don't want cracks in molding around it later and definitely don't want a rusted hood. If I was to "attempt" it, I would paint it to match and position it about where the pic shows. I think it would be a subtle, but sporty addition. I read where the vent is not that expensive. The body work would probably be a little extensive. Thoughts? - Og

 

og - I really did like that mod when i saw it, and thought the same thing. It should be positioned as shown.

I wouldnt think it impossible to scheme a way to divert any water off to the side as long as you have an imagination and some materials.

great alternate to buying an expensive hood. good luck - interested in the results (i kinda want to do it)

I'm sure they use a molded piece that is either glued or welded to the bottom side - and that channels the water off to the sides.

I was wondering about the suspension. The belltech kit replaces only the strut which gives from 1 to 3 inches of drop, and the flip kit gives 5 inches for the rear. Will I need a c-notch for 5 inches ? A 3-5 drop looks pretty badass on a reg cab short box, but I don't want to cut the frame.. should I just play it safe with a 2-4 kit ? The truck is my daily driver so I'd prefer to keep it as stock feeling as possible, with as much drop as possible.

anyways those are my plans. I better get working :P

 

You don't have to cut the frame on a 3/5 drop. Take a look at DJM's kit.

this summer im going for

either a 3-5 or 4-6 drop with an in-frame cnotch
powdercoating the L rims black and probably throwin some toyo proxes on them
LED tails and LED all throught the interior
Tach cluster swap
and do some more audio work

 

sounds like fun, but you might want to add some sway bars to that
