Sub and amp question!!!!!

I have an Orion xtreme 500.2 Its power output is:

2 x 125 @ 4 Ohm
2 x 250 @ 2 Ohm
1 x 500 @ 4 Ohm

Am i able to use any of the jl subs with this amp? I woud like to have 2 10's if possible but i dont think the ohm level on the subs and amp will match. I had a sub in mind found out the mounting depth isnt going to work. I wanted the Jl's because of their mounting depth. I plan on puttting them under the rear bench seat in my supercrew. Help me please!

You can address this in a number of ways:

1. If the JL's you buy are 2 ohms each, wire each JL to it's own output on the amplifier.

2. If the JL's you buy are 4 ohms each, strap the amp into mono mode and wire the JL's in parallel. Be sure to observe phasing when you do this.

3. If the JL's you buy are 8 ohms each, strap the amp into mono mode and wire the JL's in parallel. Be sure to observe phasing when you do this.

Well, I have an old Orion 275SX it's rated as follows....

2 x 75rms at 4ohm
2 x 150 at 2 ohm
bridged 1x300 with one 4ohm speaker (it really works out to 2ohm load when bridged I won't go technical because I don't understand it fully)

Now that said, I used to run 2 JL 15w1's rated at 150rms @4 ohm. I had them hooked up bridged parrallel on the amp (2ohm). This puts it lower that what the amp is rated for (close to 1 ohm) I'm guessing the amp was pushing 450rms to the 2 subs and it ran perfectly. It would blow a fuse from time to time if I got too crazy with a BASS cd. The amp is about 10 years old now and still is in good shape. I have one of the 15w1's that is still running (the other was a friends sub) and it gets the full 300rms now. That's double what it is rated for. I believe the Xtreme series amp is what replaced the SX series. If you bridge the subs parrallel you'll probably be putting 750rms to the 2 subs. If you go with JL 10w3's I think you'd be fine in that setup if the amp doesn't blow the fuse right off the bat. If it does without pushing the barrier very far I wouldn't recomend running it that way. Instead run them in stereo at 4ohms. Hope this helps.
