Alpine SPX Comps.

Akright im about to buy new component speakers for my truck this week and am curious if anyone has hears the ALpine SPX 6.5 comps? If so whatcha think about them? Its down to those or the RF Fanatic Q's 6.5

Any other suggestions? Id Prefer a 4ohm speaker, thats why im not getting the Focal 165k2. I wouldnt be getting full capabilities out of my amp with that ohm load. Oh well, so help me out! Thanks

The Focals have a nominal impedance of 4 ohms also, so I'm not sure why they wouldn't work in your system. They are excellent speakers and would blow the Alpines or the RF's away.

When i goto Focals website it says they are 3 or 6 ohms....i havent seen any advertised as 4ohm specs! Im not saying your wrong, but i would rather purchase these instead of the others i mentioned. I just gotta find out if there are 4ohm specs out there. Check out the link to the 165k2's home page....

The spec you are looking at is the re ohm factor, which is typically less than the nominal impedance. A speakers impedance is not constant, as it will fluctuate at different frequency levels. That's why many times you will see it listed as typical or nominal impedance. These speakers would be considered a 4 ohm speaker and with their efficiency of 92db's, will play loud with the proper amplification. You probably wouldn't notice a difference between the Focals and the others you are looking at. If you are willing to spend the money, then definitely go for the Focals.

ok cool deal....im going to be pushing them with an orion xtreme 800.4 So they should be recieving about 200 per channel. Im going to buy these speakers for sure! Now all i need is to sell my 2 alpine type R's and figure ou what sub im gonna get in the back! Heard anything about the Kicker Solobaric L7....all i have heard is they pound and the motor structure isnt the most reliable!

The Kicker Solobaric L7 is a good subwoofer, but I feel there are others available that may be better. I have listed some choices:

JL Audio W7 OR W6v2
Audiomobile EVO R or Mass
Eclipse Aluminum Titanium
Adire Brahma
Image Dynamics ID Max

You can't go wrong with a Solo L7, but look at other options also. Good luck

Well my main thing is space. Im going to have the sub behind my rear seat in my supercrew. Im going to have a sealed box custom fabricated behind there. Im not sure if you have seen the limited amount of space behind there but the depth isnt much. So a W7 i kno is out of the question. I was thinking about the L7 in a 10inch. For my sub amp i have an Orion xtreme 500.2 which i planned on briding down to one channel, so the sub would get about 500 watts at a 4ohm load. Any other ideas. Thanks again for your help!

Yeah, space is pretty limited in one of those. I would then narrow my choice down to:

1) JL Audio 10W6v2 www.jlaudio.com/subwoofers/w6v2.html
2) Audiomobile Mass 10 www.audiomobileinc.com/main.htm
3) Eclipse Aluminum 10 www.eclipse-web.com/pop_up/popup.html

All three of these subs will give you excellent sound quality along with good deep base. You can't go wrong with any of them, and they all work in small boxes. One thing to think about, try and make the box a little bigger than recommended. I had a Diamond Audio Mac Daddy sub that was suppose to work in a .5 cft. enclosure and it sounded terrible in a .62 cft. box. I then put it in a .75 cft. box and it sounded much better. I would recommend a box of .75 to .85 for any of the subs listed above, and they should sound better than an L7.
